Not sure I agree with that JJ.
Unless you are racing in a small league, you are going to need to overtake cars at some point during the race. Whether it is rivals on a different startegy & just lapping back markers, DRS will make it easier to do both
You get 25 points if you win by 0.5 second or 40 second margin, there is no difference in that and winning by bigger margin isn't more competetive in my opinion. In most cases DRS will be helpful. But if you win without DRS, you won't need it. If car ahead is always 10 second ahead, DRS won't make any difference.
I think correct push levels are most important. Next is KERS strategy and staying in DRS zone. Closer the competition is, DRS starts being more important. You don't however necessarily need DRS and with enough designed car or with having best driver you can win even tight races, completely without DRS and KERS at all.
I just think, if you are winning without it you don't need to do much changes to succesful team. However, if you are struggling to make your goals, DRS could be very helpful in some situations. Using right push levels is more crucial though. Just my opinion. It's not a miracle maker, just a technology to help overtaking and you would also need 2d viewer to get most out of your DRS and KERS systems.
Playing with mobile timing it is hard to know, where DRS zone is and make full advantage of the system. In most cases DRS can be helpful however. But most of all, you should learn to understand how to use it, so it can be really worth it and to that 2d viewer would be very helpful. Just fitting DRS wont help that much. You must learn how to use it as well. Correctly used, it could be very helpful and give you wider range of competetive strategial possibilities. But again it is more important to learn to use correct push levels and fuel strategies. They affect your pace throughout whole race and DRS can be helpful only in sometimes, so it won't make much difference anyway, though it can be helpful.
