Hey guys, you've probably heard of Jos Verstappen, a former Dutch F1 driver from my home town. His son, Max, is getting up trough the rankings fast now as well, being fastest in the Renault 2.0 test day yesterday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jYPRW0aq_Bw
How far do you guys think he'll come? He was Champion karting this season as well in the highest class, will he make it to F1?

Does he have the money?????

Unfortunately I think not, since he seems to be as unreliable in karting as Grosjean was in the junior formulae. He's obviously very talented, but I have paid slight attention to his karting results and he might be a bit too crashy for F1 right now. He will most likely improve in the future, but I feel he's not quite F1 material yet.

Too crashy? He has won basically everything so far as far as I know.

the cuestion is about... BETS, top tech team and sponsorship... with that 3 key factors, he could be a noob and win a championship....

I think we all know it comes down to money. The sad truth is all the best drivers usually don't make it and motorsport is definitely not the sort of sport where talent alone can take you the whole way. Take New Zealand for example - Scott Dixon in Indycar, Mitch Evans most likely on his way to F1, Shane Van Gisbergen and Fabian Coulthard both in Australian V8 Supercars... Were they good? Sure. Were they the best young talents of their time? Definitely not.

I think Max' advantage is that his dad is known in the F1 world and he knows how to deal with that stuff, but the sport has changed a lot since then.

He is very young and it's very early to tell, but young talents seem to pop out sooner than ever before and even I have heard of him in Finland. Maybe he is the one who breaks Vettel's records of being youngest to win everything. Who knows? :D He is ten years younger than Sebastian.

Is this bit similar story to Tie and Max Domi in ice hockey. Where Tie were well known fighter in NHL and Max is expected to score more goals. :)

Too early to tell.

As recently as Kobayashi we've seen drivers who were mediocre in GP2 do great in F1, while apparently succesful drivers fell flat in F1 (Pizzonia, Klien, Liuzzi, Magnussen, Pantano, di Grassi).

Nevertheless, he's an exciting talent to watch.

In that video of him driving in the wet.... was he trying to drive on a dry line or missing nearly half of all the apexes from understeer?

I'd like to see videos of him driving in dry conditions.

Seeing now he's gonna be driving for Toro Rosso next season already, making him the youngest F1 driver ever.

Don't think he's signed up for an F1 drive next year, he is just confirmed to be apart of the Junior programme which means he will be funded
for either GP3 or GP2, besides Verstappen does not even hold an FIA Super Licence and seems how he will never get 300Km of testing done
this year it's almost certain he will not be on the grid next year.
