I am just wondering if something as simple as a "League Suspension" tab could be added to the leagues ?

I thought about asking one of the devs for a break, but then I thought that it could be used for other holidays as well and may cut the amount of posts being put up.

The way it could working is - Suspend League for - Then a drop down box for up to 14 days.

As simple as that.

I have asked a few of the managers and they said that they would like a Christmas Break..

In this time. NO designing would be alllowed to happen, the same as if you was not in a league.. So no one gains from it.

That sounds like a great idea Rob. With Christmas coming up and possibly other occasions it would be very usefull.

I'd like to be able to design but I like the no races thingy.

Or maybe you can only design for half of the time it's suspended, like in real f1?

I agree. Completely agree. League becomes 'inactive' with no ability to design etc would be great. Before Christmas would be perfect.

It should be optional though, chosen on majority vote or league leader.

I said no designing because of the people who go away to visit family and don't have access to a PC.. Not everyone is under the age of 25 on this game and not everyone has tablets / iPhones and so on..

I'm not to bothered, as I don't do anything over x-mas.. but I don't see why I should gain if someone is having a jolly good beer session. ;)

I think that is entirely reasonable Rob. You want to be able to freeze the league for a given period.

I'll try to add this option next week. It will be a host only option when I do add it. Implementing some kind of democratic voting system with a cut off date isn't just a little more work, it's a lot more work, and too much to fit in around other tasks.

Ok I understand :). But i'm sure a few leagues may have a vote on the poll as to whether to stop the league.

Great work Jack to try and implement this. :)

I like the idea.
It might be useful to put this in the information about the league - you are a league that takes holiday breaks etc - or whatever.  That way players will know that this is possible before they join the league - and it might encourage people to join who know they cannot be around during festivals or holidays.

Since Christmas is coming closer, is there any news on this? :)

I definatly like this idea because in the league I'm in, we've got a race on Christmas Day and New Year's Day

I too would be interested to know what happened with this idea?
I expect more important stuff has come along to be dealt with.

Full on freeze functionality is unlikely to happen any time soon due to how the system is built (re:designs and such). But the ability for a host to move races out of the way of holidays in itself will be a nice convenience. Live races are probably the single biggest distraction, followed by preparation.

Good news Jack.

Thank you for adding this option. Superb.

I am now wondering how I will be able to suspend the races after 21st until the 2nd?

Will I have to move all of the ones in the way out of it? What happens when you change one for another one?

eg. Our last race is the 21st and then we want to re-open back on the 2nd. So when I push the 24th back to another date, if another race is set at that date, what happens to the race that was already set in?

Also. If I push the 24th back to the 2nd. Will all of the races be set from the 2nd and auto align?

All of the races get pushed back with whatever races are postponed. E.g. if you postpone Round 3 by 3 days all races after that will move in to the next available slots after that date.

If you then postponed round 2 by 1 day then Round 3 would not move, it would remain on the postponed date you set it at, as round 2 would fall in to the gap between when you had postponed round 3. If however you postponed round 2 by e.g. 10 days then it would force round 3 back too, overriding the initial postponement of round 3.

Hopefully that makes sense! In other words it will attempt to preserve the gaps in the calendar unless you forcibly overlap two race dates, then it will take the option of utilising your normal calendar dates to reschedule everything in to an orderly manner again. That is actually what I spent half of the time building this working on, getting it to preserve gaps when postponing the calendar. I didn't have to, but I just wanted it to make logical sense in how it behaved, so if you postponed one race then another one before it, it will try not to affect the later race unless it has to.
