I'd rather have more point scoring positons than an extra point that will more often than not go to the top teams.

It would only encourage people to save 100% KERS until the final lap and unleash it all at once. Not that many people need any more encouragement to adopt this tactic.

Then they lose out earlier on in the race. They lose 3 points (finishing 4th not 3rd) and gain 1 because they didn't kers to the drs train. If they don’t want to do that then they don’t have to. They lose out:

Sure, if they gave up 2nd or 3rd it'd be 3 points lost for 1 potential bonus point.  But it'd be 2 points sacrificed if 4th-8th was surrendered, 1 point for 9th or 10th, and, if they were really stupid, 7 points for 1st.
