Drivers ageing?

I hired my driver Sebastian Valencia (http://igpmanager.com/play/?url=team-driver/67249) when he was 17 years old. As I understand, 1 season = 1 year in the game. He has done 382 races for me, which means he has raced about 22,5 years (382 / 17 = 22,47). Right now he is 36. It can't possibly be right as 17 + 22,5 = 39,5. So he should be around 39-40 right now.

What's the issue with the ageing process or is there something I don't know?

Driver age increases after every 20 races and not per "season/year". You can check in the rules under "4.4 Ageing".
