Change CD in post season break

I have just attained a new - higher lvl and higher star rated CD. It is currently the post season break in my league. If appoint the newly acquired guy as my CD, leave my league and rejoin back, would my base car for the start of the season have the design points I would have achieved if I had him for the whole of last season ? 

The old one is a lvl 18 4.5 star and new one is lvl 19 5 star

I believe so. Many people do this on my other profile. I don't know personally because I prefer not to do it, but I'm positive that's correct
