Hi, this will be my first time posting on here so im sorry if i dont fit the usual format of suggestions.

So firstly, i would like to set the context of why I am making this suggestion. As it is right now, in most leagues, ERS is usually just sitting there for the whole race while it is just a blatant boost fest on the last few laps. By adding rechargeable ERS, it could be an extra element of strategy.

In terms of deployment of ERS, perhaps the deployment can only be changed at certain points of the track (e.g. every sector or every lap)

There can be 3 modes, for example an overtaking mode, a neutral mode, and a charging mode, which affects the overall speed of the car.
Logically, the overtaking mode would be the fastest but deplete the battery, the neutral mode would be the middle-ground  where the battery has no change or maybe slight charge, while the charging mode would be the slowest but it charges the battery by a larger amount.

With this, there would be an extra dynamic of when to charge the ERS and when to use the overtake mode. As opposed to the current last lap stalemate

(going slower on the charging mode would naturally mean you are going to lose track position, but that is in exchange for being able to go faster with overtake mode later on.)

Cars could probably start with around 20-50% battery and maybe lose 25% charge for a lap of overtake mode? while the charging mode recovers 5% of the battery a lap and the neutral recovers 0-2% of the battery a lap

If anyone is reading this, please comment below what you think and upvote this if you think its a good idea.

Thank you!!!

Alternatively, the usage of kers could be made to have only a 20% per lap allowance, so instead of pushing all 100% on the last lap, there would still be some action with the ERS earlier on at least.

I think the idea is good but if any changes to how boost is deployed were to be made I woud prefer to keep the overall amount of boost we have available now the same. The reason for this is because I would rather the players have to rely on the more realistic/simulated aspects of the game rather than having an abundance of boost available. I feel the performance of your drivers should reflect more upon the players skill and knowledge of the game rather than a simple push of a button.

I think the amount of KERS we have available now is fine and adds a nice strategic element to the game but any more would detract from the more simulated and realistic elements required for strong performance. I'm not sure if what you proposed would greatly increase the overall amount of boost available by having a 5% recharge per lap available in recharge mode.

I think another alternative would be to partition the amount of boost available into 3 seperate parts. For the first 20% of the race the player has 20% of their boost available to use, if this boost is not used it's lost. Then for the middle 60% part of the race the player has 60% of their boost available which also must be used within this timeframe otherwise it's lost and finally the player has 20% of their boost available for the last 20% of the race. So this way the players can't abuse their boost at the start of the race or at the end of the race where this is usually the case in some races. If the boost is limited to 20 : 60 : 20 this would eliminate all the frustration that comes from boost abuse during a race.

I agree with what you mean about the amount of boost, but the numbers i gave were just placeholder examples as i have no idea of how this would play out, as it is a new concept, i think your idea would be quite a good short term fix for the devs to implement as it would probably just be a few lines of code on an existing feature and not a whole massive feature, but if the rechargeable ers is balanced correctly, it would help add a new strategic element and also make the game feel up to date since f1 cars have rechargeable ers now
