“IGP’s” History

Igp is a good community with a great history and I think it would be nice for veterans and new players like me who have only been here for an year and half to document it. From the very beginning to today. So please people that have been here since 2011 comment bits of history since game updates to community things, like the “windmill winter offensive” or the “Joey Mclane guides”
2012

- Original game launch, back you could only play on PC (browser). The game had already live races, which was quite impressive at the time 
 
2016

-The game underwent a major re-design as a pre-cursor to the introduction of the App. Some accused the game of being dumbed down but it was necessary to remove some of the detailed settings because of the limitations of smart phones

2017

- The IGP app was launched

- One of the best managers in the game Joey Mclane, decided to create the “beginners and advanced guide of IGP”, these guide were quite useful until very recently because they contained tips and tricks, a list of setups, and the very basics of the game we know and love, some time after that in the same year Joey retired

2018
- First IGP league on YouTube began, hosted by Peter Man
- the tyre update went live, before that in 50% race duration leagues the only tyre used was hards, even in Monaco (yes)

- Darksky became the weather provider of the game

2019:

- Security cars and flags were added into the game, they were removed shortly due to the playerbase begging for its removal
- Super mod Kevin Bissell started editing Mclane’s guide, after a miserable attempt to make a new and more recent guide by Self Help, this guide was supposed to be a community guide in what manager like Slo Bro participated

- A manager named Self Help got tired of racing in the same tracks every season in the same order, so he made a post in the forum, where he suggested adding new tracks custom seasons, and custom number of races, in that post he made a poll listing some tracks that we have in the game such as Canada GP, that poll became popular among the community and catcher an eye on staff members such as José Trujillo, the staff made that update and added the most popular tracks among the poll France and Canada, in that same month more managers started making posts with polls with tracks that haven’t been added, tracks we love and hate today such as the USGP or Azerbaijan GP were added, and custom season order and number of races too

- The official iGP Manager Merchandise store opened (https://igpmerch.com/) meaning you could own a small bit of iGP Manager in your house and show the game off to your friends, family and anyone who you passed in the streets. You can buy many things, ranging from hoodies and shirts to more recently added stickers.

2020:


- Manager Peter Man retires thus ending the first IGP league on YouTube 

- The staff made an open letter to the community apologising for not fixing bugs, because the community was getting angry of seeing bugs and glitches, or incomplete things in the game like random qualification the staff from there improved a lot, like the game, who received a great update.

- The new hall of fame system was added, because a lot of players already had reached the reputation cap at that time (10000) 

-The old discord server if IGP was closed and replaced by a new one hosted by a manager by the name of Rhys J, that discord server was unofficial but it started a trend created by the server member Original Windmill guy, that trend was windmills, and later on armadillos, created by the forum moderator Connor Cooper. That trend became very popular among the game even being created a thread in the off topic section of forum talking about the superiority of windmills when compared to filthy turbines 


- One of the best managers in the game Lolita left the game after being called “a cheater” , she made the longest rage post on the forum to be recorded, a player said that while reading that he developed a tumour on his brain 

2021

- IGP’s biggest update will come out it was first leaked in the forum by José Trujillo

- the first YouTube league with commentary (by Leo Hackins) will debut in the 5th January, this includes managers like Connor Cooper or Slo Bro, and Gian it is a rookie league that hopes to showcase the best of igp

Wow, I'd love it if the game was still to this level in terms of setups

Reason it was changed, from what i know, is because it was too hectic to play on anything besides PC on a smaller screen, and complicated to manage a lot of factors at once for a lot of people. I don't know when it came out of mobile, but if that version were on mobile everything would be very small and hard to be precise.

As far as the actual thread goes, literally nothing has changed since i’ve been here except the layout of the ‘team’ and ‘manager’ screen which isn’t a very big change tbh. The other thing is the league filter being fixed, thats a huge milestone 😒

I’m pretty sure the full safety car was never actually brought in to the game.. there was the vsc and yellow flags tho

Oh and about the 2018 tire update, I think it was actually updated again after a week or so to make mediums at least more useful then hards.

What about the original launch in 2012? We have 4 years of history we are missing 😅
