Hi everyone,

I’m a bit confused about how research power works.  I recently was at 44%* when I had 4 1/2 star CD and TD on staff.  Now I have a 5 star CD and TD but my research power is only 40%*?  I noticed it dropped to 40* very recently so I decided to spend the tokens/weekly salary on 5 star upgrades at those positions to bump my research back up, but nothing changed?

* these are the “max research” numbers that I get by only researching one area at a time.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

Cheers

It is because you recently leveled up to 20. Every level up will reduce your power a little bit until it reaches 40% at level 20.

Providing you have a CD and TD the same level as your team your maximum research power when researching a single attribute can be determined by..

Research Power (%) = 100 - (Level x 3)

Note: L19 appears to break this rule because for reasons unknown the game uses 43.00000001 and it is displayed as a rounded up integer... 44%

Ah, interesting....thanks for the help!

So is it even worth paying the salary of a 5 star CD and TD if 4.5 stars achieve the same research power?

There should be a way to train staff like you can train drivers, so you can get a low staff member and train them up to be good, vs always needing to find staff through the transfer portal and deal with bidding wars to get them.

From what I have seen, 5 stars gives you a slightly better car the following season.

If you research a cds strength during a season, you get a 10 percent bonus on it too ?

You mean like if the CD is strong in handling and you set handling as the race research focus then there is a 10% bonus vs researching any other areas?

If this is the case, is there a 10% PENALTY for researching their weakness?  I usually research the weakness since the car starts lower in that area at the season start.

There is a 50% penalty for researching on your weakness.

But if you get a good weakness, this won't mean anything

Yes, I was unaware of the size of the penalty for researching a weakness, but it's to be avoided
