In general and what seems to be overall I think what they have done by toning down the Drs on most track is a good idea but whatever has been done with USA definitely needs attention. In its present state it's probably worse than the old Austria as regards Drs strength. I just finished a race here and was at times being passed by easily 3 cars, almost 4! If it's a thing that IGP can't retain the old Drs zone on this track might I suggest the start finish straight and an equivalent strength to how a lot of other tracks were made.

The biggest issue with USA imo is that DRS doesn't stop at the end of the DRS straight, it continues for the 2 next corners as well, which well it's just something that goes against the whole concept of "DRS" xD (flashbacks of me enabling DRS in the middle of a corner in the old F1 games and instantly crashing).
So yeah i think that the DRS straight is the correct one but that they should make sure that DRS stops by the end of the straight (this would also make it less OP, cause i feel like most DRS overtakes in USA normally happen after the straight itself, on the following corners that obviously shouldn't be part of the DRS zone).

REALLY! Toned down? I don't think so, read my post at the top. It's an absolute joke! Nothing has changed, you sit until the last lap then you hold your finger down and hope for the best. There is NO other way. They had a huge opportunity to do something and they have failed. Had enough!

Gotta disagree with you mate, I did follow your post before and made a few comments myself where I agreed with you because before it was just too powerful on some tracks. But I have noticed that a lot of the problematic tracks where in drs zones at least 2 sometimes 3 or 4 cars were passing the lead car now have on average one car passing, unless the 2nd car has the 3rd car at his bumper and both are very close to the lead car, then both may be successful in making the pass. Personally I think it's a change for the better as lead cars now have a better chance of breaking free which tends to makes chasing cars use boost earlier than before and in turn breaks up the very long trains we used to have lap after lap. I even noticed this in Italy earlier today where I was swapping the lead every other lap and managing to stay in second after drs zones, instead of 3rd or even 4th as it used to be!

Edit : the Italy race I referred to was with my other Paulo Maldini account, sry for the mix up!

Did you read my post about Austria tonight? The number of cars overtaking in the DRS train is irrelevant, it only needs one car to overtake to keep the train going and eat into the lead cars advantage which was NEVER the purpose of DRS. I have been wondering why I have been enjoying Quick races so much and now it's dawned on me, fewer cars spread out equals NO DRS train! You can actually use your boost at ANY time in the race and not be penalised for racing your own race.

If like it is now that on average you have only one car passing this means that those who are on a slightly different strategy, possibly a lap heavier will have a harder time keeping up with those in front, whereas before they were being carried by the strength of drs. Drs was so strong that it was propelling the slower or heavier cars far enough ahead of the passed car that this could compensate enough for them to maintain their position within the train. Now they now longer have the comfort of a hard push/propel forward so it's going to be tougher than it was before.

This is where I feel strategies will come into play more so and I have noticed since the update that heavier strategies (even by one lap) are having a harder time staying in the trains. Also trains are no longer huge locomotives now and are breaking up a lot easier than before and becoming more sporadic. I think that strategies are now more of a deciding factor than what they were before, which is a good thing!

But you still mustn't leave the safety of the pack, even as in my case you have a faster car, do not dare use that advantage and pull out a gap with an added bit of boost, you'll be caught by the train and you might as well have thrown your boost down the 'train drain', stay in the pack like a good boy, even back right off on your driver's style, cruise around while you read a book until about two laps to go, then at any time of your choosing press the boost button repeatedly and see what happens. Ridiculous!

Don't worry, I'm not gonna be using boost anytime soon to escape a train, I'm a bit too experienced for that codology ? but speaking from my own experience since the update there seems to be a lot less last lap hold and dash as there was before which doesn't surprise me really considering it's now a lot less likely that more than one car gets the overtake in the now less powerful drs zones, unless we're talking about USA which is kinda messed up atm!

Maybe you're right, but what happened tonight in Austria has kind of finished me off. Respect your views though, it's good to discuss these things. ?

Dr's has definitely been toned down, it actually is now beneficial to be in the lead rather than wait like a looser in the Drs train

Apart from Austria when you're about twenty car lengths in front and then it's gone in about five laps thanks to the DRS train! (No option to put in smiley face so just imagine one)
