I would like to suggest 2FA. If we had 2FA, I would like it to where you have to verify your account before making a new league, or you have to verify your account through your e-mail before you can join a league, I have seen way too many accounts where its the same person (some people have 10+ accounts!). Maybe if the IGP team doesn't want to prevent people from playing the game or making a new league, it could be a reward of 5 tokens or something like a hat/achievement.

I get that some people are making bot accounts, usually to help push their votes and forum posts through, but we should be allowed at least two, like I have a junior team. What do you mean by the reward thing tho

2 accounts are fine, I’m talking about the people who fill their entire league with only their accounts, What I mean by reward is, if you verify your account you could get money, tokens, hats, or a achievement.

I would like to know why managers don’t like this idea, Please tell me why you don’t like this idea.

It seems your reason for this is to prevent people having multiple accounts. Please explain why you have a problem with people running ten or more accounts.

Many hardcore gamers run multiple accounts in private leagues for testing. They are not causing any problems for other members of the community so why put in controls to prevent this behaviour?

I have quite a lot of secondary Rookie and Pro tier accounts which I use to fill out the lower tiers of my league to keep promotion active for the benefit of newbies. If your suggestion were to be implemented it would consign some teams to the lower tiers for a very long time.

The problem I have is the people who put multiple accounts in a league so they can use them to team, my other problem is people getting their accounts hacked. You have a good point about filling out leagues, but, for one example, this league: https://igpmanager.com/app/p=league&id=5385&tab=info  when the host left, all of the pro tier and most of the rookie tier was gone. If you had to leave your league, the same thing would happen to you. When this happens, there are even more half player leagues. But, like I said, a slight reward instead of not allowing a manager to play the game is a replacement, or not allowing a manager to make a league unless their account is verified. I think this would be a nice way to prevent all of these new managers from creating a new league. What do you think about only verified accounts being able to host a league?

I agree with your point about creation of leagues but I would go one stage further. People should only be able to create a league if they use a verified account AND are at least L16. This would require the manager to have played the game for long enough to understand how the iGP league system works.

Regarding your point about people using multiple accounts to "team up", it's a lot more difficult to police. Verified accounts would help but people could still create multiple email addresses and assign an account to each. Maybe IP addresses could be used, but this can be overcome with VPN. Going to need someone much cleverer than me to sort this out.

Good point, I didn’t think about there being a level limit to make a league (that would be good addition), just mark this as rejected cause it seems like a bunch of managers don’t want it.

The problem could be you titled the thread and started the post with 2FA, while the intended suggestion seems to be about verifying accounts. I don't think 2FA is needed and just an unneccessary hassle but I wouldn't mind a simple account verification like validating the e-mail. Multiple accounts have more pros in legitimate uses than they do harm, though. Especially since it's nearly impossible to prevent.

Yeah, thats my bad, the simple validation through e-mail would be nice.

I see what your on about now. I just created an account by plucky words out the sky. Long as you @ in field you can make an account LOL

Something to bring to JB's attention anyone can cause unnecessary strain on the servers just by making account after account without needing a real email address.

Need to get the game to send an email to us to follow a link to setup the account can solve this!?

I believe that trying to change the current system would lead to more players leaving to be honest unless there was a restructuring of the League system.

1.  Some players have multiple accounts for legitimate reasons and play in more than one league.  I can’t think of any reason why this is not ok.

2.  Some leagues, as have been previously mentioned, use dummy accounts in Rookie and Pro to ensure a flow of promotion and relegation each season.  Again I see no reason to prevent this as it keeps managers in the game.  If a manager finds that they are unable to be promoted they will generally quit rather than seek out another league.

3.  While I feel the reasons for banning new managers from setting up leagues are valid, again I think it might end up being detrimental as new players want to be competitive. However, I recognise that there are a lot of leagues with just one or 2 managers so maybe we should have Beginner leagues that could be hosted by anyone, or even auto hosted. You could limit managers to say 3 seasons (or when they reach a certain Manager Level) in a Beginner League at which point they have to join an exisiting league.  This would give managers enough opportunity to decide if the game is for them and hopefully provide a more stable flow of managers into Rookie Divisions?

I'd have to disagree with a level restriction. One of the unique things about this game is the ability for a group of friends to create a league for themselves, it's how the first league I was in started some 8 years ago, we were all rookies at low level without interference from league hoppers and newb bashers.

Good points on the league stuff, while it’s not a problem if a player has multiple accounts in different leagues, if one player has multiple accounts in one league that’s a problem. If  a manager leaves a league that barely has promotion and removes there 2 or 3 accounts that kills that league. But, like it was said before a simple e-mail verification for like 5 tokens would be nice

Hi IB,

A blast from the past. I remember when I started seeing your name up there towards the top of the HoF with the likes of Tjerk Korving and Marcel Smid.

It was a totally different game back then, only available using a web browser, you had to expend a fair amount of effort to get up and running and you couldn't really manage the race unless you had the 2D viewer which required a subscription. The community was also much smaller and more accepting of all the crashes every time Java was updated LOL.

These days people download the app on a mobile phone, create a league, play for a couple of days, get bored with one race per day, uninstall the app and are never seen again.

I understand where you're coming from but in this world of instant gratification I think expecting players to have been around for a while before being allowed to create a league would benefits the game as a whole and reduce load on the servers. IMO the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. There are literally hundreds of leagues out there with empty rookie tiers, new managers should be encouraged to race in these.

Just my opinion and unlikely ever to be implemented.
