Hi

just to find out how the DRS fuction works in a race.... i never see the DRS come on as such but when i hover over it, it says that manual DRS is disabled? so my question is, does the driver use it? if he does how do you know he is using it? or is my DRS not working?

Driver will always use it when within 1 second. It is automaticly controlelled and you can see when he is using it in 2D, because a green "DRS" icon will appear above the car.

Also, make certain you have researched DRS (should only need to do it once).... you don't automatically obtain it

Thanks.... i have all the research done but again in my race today he was within a sec from the car infront and no DRS light came on.... and this was for like 3 laps.... strange but oh well

I had issue with that on Thursday. Restarted the 2D and it was fine. Looking at lap times and way I was closing in on car in front it was working before though, so just something affecting button lighting up.

Brandon... I see that you are missing the "sugar daddy" achivement, which tells me you are not using the 2D viewer, but the timing and scoring. The indication you are talking about is the one above the KERS button. That DOES NOT light up in either the 2D or the timing and scoring windows. It is probably working, but you would need someone who is doig the race from 2D to tell you for cerain. My guess is that it s working fine, you just won't be able to tell.

I use the Timing and Scoring viewer as a non-subscriber.

When you get familiar with where the DRS zones are on each track (try asking the subscribers in your league while you're in the race; one will probably happily tell you), you can tell based on your sector times. Your time through the sector where the DRS zone is will typically be 0.3 to 0.7s quicker than normally, depending on how long the zone is.

From memory, these are the DRS Zone Locations (DRS detection & activation line):

Australia: front straight (exit of last corner)

Malaysia: front straight (exit of last corner)

China: back straight (just before Intermediate 2)

Bahrain: front straight

Spain: front straight (just before Start/Finish)

Monaco: front straight

Turkey: back straight (about 10 seconds down the road from Intermediate 2)

Britain: Hangar Straight (just before Intermediate 1)

Germany: back straight (about 5 seconds on from Intermediate 2)

Hungary: front straight

Europe: back straight (about 4 seconds on from Intermediate 1)

Belgium: Kemmel Straight (entirely within Sector 1)

Italy: front straight (exit of Parabolica)

Singapore: back straight (exit of Turn 5)

Japan: front straight (exit of Casio Triangle, just a couple hundred meters before Start/Finish)

Brazil: front straight (just before the kink)

Abu Dhabi: back straight (just before Intermediate 1)
