Same problem here, just messed up my reputatiion points (lost all I'd gained over the last 6or 7 races) and lost any hope of me winning the championship in my series.

I don't expect for the race to be rerun since everyone else seemed fine but how could that be the case? Everyone using the same Java but it works for some and not others. Probs a mixture of browser used and security but tried with all security turned off. No success.

Nice to know (well not nice but you know what I mean) that others have had the same problem.

Damn.... just fell for this too. Can only get timing to work and that's just depressing to watch now.

I guess I'll have to fiddle around with the settings.

Ok, I have to install java every so many weeks due to company software group policies changing something for Java products inhouse.  I'll tryt this.. thanks.

I'll pin this thread to increase its visibility. Also, I've passed it on to Chris to check out what is going on with Java 8.

ok, I managed to pull 8 out and go back to java 7.  Phew!  missed a race because it but I didn't do so bad.

I'm still having some problems with J8.

I can load the screen fine but attempting to change the interface causes a freeze. This includes maximising the screen, using 'full details view', and moving windows (chat/pit etc.)

Tried reinstalling/clearing cache of Java but no dice.

May just be me (hopefully...) but not sure how to fix this. I'm using Firefox fwiw.

I'll get Chris to look in to this. Java 7 is still the stable, recommended release. Java 8 is still in the beta testing stage, not just for us, but Java 8 itself is in beta and not due for release until March 2015. We still strongly recommend sticking to Java 7 unless you are forced to upgrade for any reason.

Not really, but I don't mind keeping it and doing tests etc.

A bit silly of them to force a beta update on users. I wonder how much money the person that made that decision is on? I volunteer myself to replace them.

I also got prompted to update to version 8 a couple of weeks ago, which is strange. They shouldn't be prompting people to upgrade yet. Oddly, when I uninstalled v8 and went back to v7 and I no longer get a prompt to upgrade to 8.

Fell for this again today, java insisted on upgrade (8up31). Had to uninstall and go back to 7 again - 2D viewer loads and can chat etc, but if you try to change/move views it freezes. Could not load data view at all.

is availiable until April 2015.
The 64-bit version is for 64-bit browsers only (not 64-bit Windows) so I recommend the 32-bit version (offline) or both

We're rebuilding the viewers on another platform altogether. :) It's taking a little longer, but it's worth it.

If I get a chance to assign someone to Java 8 before then and fix this I will. All our energy is going in to completing some updates that have been in the works for a long time, as well as new viewers.

Jack.

Download the Java 32 and 64 bit versions and put it in the iGP re-direct..
Have the best Java Version for iGP and we can download it straight from here.. or put it as part of the drop down menus until the update.

Just an idea.

If someone wants to post up all the in's and out's on installation, then that would be great.. You can make a quick page with the download links..

That rebuild will take more than a year, i know. So, we need to have outdate java version installed just to play this game. I guess is better to spend some time to take jre8 compatibility, isnt it?

PD: From Java download page:

Java SE 7 End of Public Updates Notice After April 2015, Oracle will no longer post updates of Java SE 7 to its public download sites. Existing Java SE 7 downloads already posted as of April 2015 will remain accessible in the Java Archive on Oracle Technology Network. » Java 7 FAQ

will be the new viewer ready for April 2015?

Java 7 will not disappear, Mustrum, it will only be available for download in the Java Archives on Oracle, rather than readily visible on the Java website. The new viewer does not need to be ready by April.

You have insight to something that you dont see ummm intresting. How do you know this will take a year?

Java is just not going to be supported in April but will be free to download as mentioned above.

We are going to build a Java 8 compatibility update in the interim. It's not the first priority though, it's second to getting the race resume code live (the code which will make sure races resume rather than restart in the event of any service issues).

I know that Java7 will be available after april, but it will be a old version of java what means unsecure bugs sooner or later. I would like to not have a old java version just for one game
