When and Driver or and staff wants to retire, what does sack means.

You spend money to get rid of them

It means you can get rid of them immediately before they complete their 50 race contract. But if you choose to sack them you have to pay their wages for the remaining races on their contract which is exactly the same cost as keeping them in the team.
