DRS Operation

Hi all,

do i have to be a subscriber to operate DRS?

DRS is not reserved to subscribers. It's for all.
But you have to reach Level 4 experience, before. Once you got it, you can unlock it in:

Facilities > Research > Drag Reduction System

On track, it will activate itself in assigned DRS zones (if your gap is within 1 second from the car ahead).

i have level 4 and have researched DRS, but i have not bothered to research reverse engineering which is the level before.
will this affect its operation?

It doesn't,
reverse engineering is related to spying car components from other teams.
If you have unlocked reverse engineering you're able to cloning parts you've spied.
