Last Race Replay

As someone who can't always make the live races, i would love an option to replay the last race.
This would a great visual as to how your strategy played out, also with the new TV cam give you a chance to watch the action first hand.

I agree, but it will use up a HUGE amount of data. IGP is a small team and currently they have different things to focus on like gameplay improvements, so this can be left later on (maybe the second half of next year, tbh)

I agree, but it will use up a HUGE amount of data. IGP is a small team and currently they have different things to focus on, like gameplay improvements, so this can be left later on (maybe the second half of next year, tbh)

Not necessarily. The races are still just logs of 1's and 0's. The history of a race could be extracted down to say a few MBs. Then that file when launched will be used to generate the positions of the cars etc on track and thus generate the replay. So instead of GBs of data per race to record the screen, it could be just a couple of MBs per race file which saves the raw data in text or code file.

Maybe it is OK for now. When the data system becomes more complex, there needs to be another way to do this

If I take my race IDs there were 1,274,775 races in the 51 days between yesterdays China and the one last season. That makes pretty close to 25,000 races per day on average, so even a few MB sum up into considerable amounts pretty quickly. Now storage space isn't that expensive, but the servers have to be scaled to save, backup und, foremost, deliver that data as a race replay upon request.
It'd be nice to have race replays, but the best chance to get this would be as an extra perk for some kind of game supporter subscription or other long term deal.

Of course one would pay for these replays. Regarding storage that's not an issue, cost is cheap for high performance storage. That said, it all depends if devs want to add the feature and the priority. Based on my posts in suggestions forum they don't engage much as they are probably already swamped. So we all just have to wait anyway.
