Lap 1: Ham has better start, into Turn 6 Max tries to come back and they almost bang wheels. Hamilton goes off and cuts the chicken. Similar to Saudi Arabia, but no investigation here. Onboard shows Ham is immediately on the throttle and doesn't try to take the chicane. No idea how to react.
Lap 5: The Astons almost collide, but Vettel in front of Stroll.
Lap 7: Red Bull really is angry about the Turn 6 incident, but nothing changes.
Lap 10: Schumacher is the first one to pit.
Lap 13: Norris has a smol gearbox issue; Verstappen pits, exits in P5; afterwards, Leclerc gets bamboozled and loses a position.
Lap 14: Hamilton pits. Perez leads, Hamilton stays 2nd.
Lap 19: Turkey seems to rewind soon. Hamilton within 1.5 secs of Checo.
Lap 20: WHAT. A. FIGHT. Checo does not want to give up and stays ahead! Max wins 5(!) seconds to Lewis!
Lap 21: Hamilton leads, Verstappen 1.2 to 1.4 behind, Checo P3 and gets his very deserved pit stop.
Lap 26: Mercedes is crying about Perez doing "dangerous driving" during the fight. Wat?
Lap 27: Kimi seems to be out😢 brake problems. Now it's official, he's out😭😭😭 not the end we wanted.
Russell also has engine problems, gearbox seems to be bwoken and is retiring as well.
Lap 31: 🅱️ottas is the last driver to pit for his hard tyres. Only Alonso and Gasly are yet to pit, but they started on hards.
Lap 35: The second Alfa from Giovinazzi is out as well. Possible SC or VSC situation?
And VSC out now. Who will take the risk of a pitstop? Leclerc. And Max for another Set of hards to have 23 laps fresher tyres, Checo gets in just in case.
Few others came in as well, but - Hamilton's staying out!
Lap 38: Gap is 17 seconds. This will get interesting. Let's see.
Lap 40: Nice fight between Alonso and Tsunoda, ending in Alonso cutting T12 and 13. Not sure how it'll end.
Lap 49: slow puncture for Norris. Gap 11 secs between Lewis and Max. 36 laps vs. 14 laps tyre age.
Lap 53: Verstappen can't get closer. The only hope is a puncture from Hamilton.
And just as I wrote that, Latifi crashed. Safety Car now, maybe even a Red Flag.
Lap 54: Max pits for softs. Hamilton still stays out. Ham 1st, then Max, Checo, Sainz and Bottas. Only a simple s🅱️in by Latifi btw.
Lap 55: Hamilton angy because SC came out just as he passed pit entry.
Lap 56: No Red flag. I think SC in this lap. Perez out somehow, seems like mechanical failure. Max will have to fight lapped cars at first. Can't wait. Still one more lap SC, sorry.
Lap 57: SC in, 5 lapped cars between Lewis and Max. Masi ignores Red Bulls question why the lapped cars should not be out of the way. And now they will pass SC, making it Max directly behind Lewis. They go wheel to wheel at 50 kph. Off we go!
Lap 58: I can't. Max takes the lead!! Still fighting, Merc is angry as anything, what a fight! For now, Max will be the WORLD DRIVER CHAMPION! WHAT A RACE! I NEED A BREAK NOW!!!!! Never seen Max being so happy before. I can't. The voicecracks by him🤣
