Что Вы пытались сделать?
Not sure if it was a bug or a feature of the new update, but during today's race the tyre wear was MUCH bigger than what it had shown on the practice. Minimum 3,5% higher than expected for the hard compound and even more for other softer ones, that's quite a difference.

Что случилось вместо этого?
Please correct if I'm wrong, but you may take look at the results yourself.

Please could you give us the reported wear from the practice session and the 1st lap wear from the race.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Sorry it was my bad I entered previous race tyre wear data for the comparison, so the difference is not that dramatic. But nevertheless it was something around 1-2% higher than expected for the first laps and of cource more up to 4-6% higher for the last laps of a stint, which makes it 2,5% more than expected on average.

Tyre wear from the practice sessions (SS/S/M/H respectively):
14/9/7/6

First lap:
15/11/8/7

Thank you, I will escalate this to the team. The 1% differences may be explained by rounding. It would be great if we were given the wear rate as a decimal, this has been asked for a few times over the years but never been implemented.

FYI. The reason I asked for first lap wear rate is because the increased wear per lap later in the stint is a result of the wear curve being made more linear.

At the beginning of a stint rounding explains it, but then it’s still not always that clear why it’s higher than it should be, but yeah, being able to see decimals would really make it better.

Thanks

I reported similar to this on Monday after the update where the practice degradation is reportedly lower than in the race, Jack gave an explanation and I thought it was sorted for the next race. But after the race in Spain tonight it's back again. Practice Deg was showing as follows S-7% and M-5%. In the race it was higher at 9% and 7% respectively.

Thanks for reporting, I will also escalate this new information.

This issue has been discussed amongst the volunteers and one reason put forward for high tyre wear in Spain is that with low temperatures at the moment people are having to run high PL to keep heat in the tyres, especially for the harder compounds.

It is a fact that higher PL increases tyre wear and it seems to be even more noticeable since the update.

If you have the opportunity to test it would be interesting to see if the actual race wear is closer to practice laps at lower push levels.

Thanks for the information, I’ll keep in mind that PL has a significant effect on tyre wear now. I’ll test running on low push levels later.

Is It possible or at least is it possible considering the option to reduce the average level of push in the tracks like Spain and China? (Maybe Turkey and Japan too but not sure of these two) Those tracks always need an high level of push even if there are 20°C. And we are struggling with this specially in winter. Could you try to fix it? (Or at least considering to do this). With these new wear I think we need it. And yeah we surely need the decimal of tyre wear in FP because they often don't match in the race. Sorry if off topic

Have you tried changing your strategy (different tyres, no of stints etc?) and how you manage your PL and see how this goes?  Obvious questions I know.

Spain has a qualifying bug which can be a pain if you are on the wrong side of it, but I don’t find the PL strategy on these tracks any harder than elsewhere.  I have few accounts which race at different times of the day and at different distances so have experienced varying conditions since the update.

However, there are big issues with the update that needs addressing. Most races, especially at 50% (although not exclusively) tend to create long trains until it becomes a last lap boost fest, but making changes to PL won’t change this.

4 days ago I raced at Spain with the minimum 5 degrees using SS & S and the tyres would reach temperature and would overheat if not managed, only towards the end of the stint when tyre wear had increased could you use maximum push for the whole lap. Just add 2% to the stated wear levels in practice to set your stint lengths, if it says 7% use 9% to work out how many laps you can do.

The problem of the long train until last lap is another huge problem I am going to uninstall soon because of that. It's not related at PL as you say. I was about another topic. It seems to me that with 5°C you have to stay only at PL5 with MEDIUM tyres and they still don't overheat in those tracks I mentioned, and I remember even at 20°C those compounds reach hardly a good temperature. I wanted only to make clear my comment, as it was not, to report for Kevin

Indeed, +2% to practice wear data is exactly what I'm doing right now to calculate the tires life cycle on almost every track as it's winter time and it's mostly cold everywhere, so running on high PL is a common thing.

In fact from what I have captured it's something around +1,5% but I think it's always better to overestimate the tyre wear than to underestimate it.
