So haven't really touched the new scouting system, I heard about it when it was reworked, but damn this is weird. It's messed up, 50 tokens to refresh and only 2/6 is relevant there + only one is 5 star (or neither) and on top of that, it not only takes 48 hours to refresh for free, it's also not automatic, meaning that after the 48 hours is up you have to open the HQ manually for the timer to start again, that's just so unreasonable.

I get it that it gives you a really young mechanic, but to roll a perfect one with 5 star, perfect strength/weekness (times 2! Because you kinda need to use 2 CDs to be efficient in top leagues, so even if the 2nd CD is perfect, it has to have a different strength/weakness than the 1st CD, so even more time), it will take a lot of time and I'm not even sure if they worth it in the long run. Sure they last like 30-40 seasons and probably even more before they eventually retire, but doesn't their salary go up to the sky by that time?

Indeed, and it takes more than nursing your mental patience to be able to renew the benches with the quality based on your preference....

You absolutely do not need 2 CDs to compete.
Although I do agree the whole new system is a bit naff

you kinda do in top leagues, using 2 CDs is a must, that's how you can get the most points

The points gain are negligible this 2CDs stop being effective after an update they did awhile ago

I think the update Dario refers to was March 2020 when design range for Elite went from 1-100 to the current range of 1-200.

Before this the CD would generate more next season dp per race than they do currently (IIRC it was 3.75 dp for a 5 star CD strength) and there was a season starting cap of 50 dp for any single attribute.

By using many CDs you could hit the cap on multiple design attributes and therefore begin the season with a much stronger car than a manager who only used one CD.

ah, that update, makes sense, tho 2 CD is still better than 1 because of spying, I thought that was changed too for a second

As a newer player, it looks to me that I can only have one active CD... what would be the benefit of a second one and how would I employ that?

The only real advantage of multiple CDs is to gain extra research in the current season. Researching CD strength gives extra design points whereas researching their weakness is a severe handicap.

See here for more information... The Mechanics of Chassis Development

The downside is that if you switch CDs to optimise research, as a side effect it may have a negative impact on next season's start design.

You're currently L7, I would recommend you don't even think about this until you're at least L18 and in the Elite tier of a very competitive league. If you attempt to use multiple CDs at this stage you're either going to go bankrupt or will need to invest a lot of real money. There are much more important things to spend game cash and tokens on in your early iGP career.
