Ben
How do y'all account for push levels
For example if I expect to be using pl5 for majority of race to keep tire temps up
Do you add an extra lap of fuel or any other method?
There is no publicised method but a lot of experienced managers have gathered data over the years and use a spreadsheet to know exactly what is required. If you are as dedicated and with time, it’s something you can do yourself.
Having said that, a rule of thumb is to add 0.5L to your predicted fuel for the stint at PL3 (extra is for your outlap & inlap/safety).
Using your example of PL5 you’d probably need as much as an extra L of fuel more or less, depending on the track.
Reverse is the case with PL1, you’d need to subtract as much as 0.5L or more (also track dependent) or you’d be too heavy.
Take note, these numbers are just close estimates and NOT exact figures required. You’d need to take a lot of other factors into consideration for that but the ones above should help you in the short term.
So just take notes during each race and the next time you are at that track, you’d be better prepared.
Good luck ?.
