Whats the point of certain staff members?

So I've been playing igp for around a month and so have developed my team somewhat. I've noticed that having a technical director is literally pointless and upgrading my Chief Designer doesn't improve the car, at all...
If therefore the sole point of having these staff is to give good morale to the team, surely then this is something that needs to be improved or gotten rid of? Or maybe I'm wrong?

You are correct the tech director does nothing at this time. However the Chief Designer adds to your max design capability. Commercial, although functioning, is not relevant at this time.

Commercial Director is a place to hire people of your country or find some famous or equal name. 8-))
