So I’ve noticed that in the league I run in, the championship leader has ballast added to their car making them slower than P2(myself) and P3 respectively.

The thing is, I’ve got ballast as well when league races are run yet I’m in P2 in the championship standings for my league, my question is: just how much does the added weight of ballast affect the car, is it based on the speed of your car relative to your competitors or is it driver weight?

Cause the championship leader has voiced that they’re slower yet they’re leading the standings

Does ballast completely disappear in Elite?

Ballast is added to cars that exceed the level cap for the tier.

See sections 2.6 and 3.1 in Rules & Regulations

Yes ballast does disappear in Elite.

Ballast is one of the biggest flaws of this game.  It is meant to make racing fairer when a high level manager/car exceeds the limits stated in Kevin’s post.

However, this really makes no sense as it often stops the higher level player from getting promoted.  Frankly why should a higher developed manager be penalised?

It’s bit like saying sorry Liverpool you had a bad season and got relegated so to make it fairer you can only field 8 players this season.

It's actually there to penalise league hopping which was a practice some managers adopted years ago.

They weren't interested in championships or promotion, they just wanted the buzz of winning races. So they would dominate 16 races in the Pro or Rookie tier (the seasons back then were all 17 race with a set calendar) then before the final race they would jump to another league and dominate this one. Using this tactic they were never promoted.

Ballast was implemented in an attempt to penalise them for this practice and has never been removed.

Thanks Kevin.  Maybe the powers that be should revisit it as I’ve seen good managers quit as they struggled to get re-promoted in the past.
