2d view

could you plz make it so that 2d view is free(all the time) i really enjoy it but with only live info it gets boring. leave sub for 2d spectate but plz let it be that you can have it for free. It's sooo annoing tha i can't.

I'd rather the 2D viewer stays a subscription item than be free, as it is very much worth the money. Why don't you purchase a subscription? I did and so have many others. If the 2D viewer were to be free there'd be no attractive reasons to subscribe, other than the livery creator, which could lead to the game shutting down. That's not what I want to happen.

what can you do in 2d view that you cant in free data view, i know timings only is rubbish but i did half a season using it on my old mac and was ok.

Well, the 2D viewer makes a huge difference in improving the performance of a team. You said you did "ok" using it. But if anybody playing this game is looking for one of the many ways to improve quickly, getting the 2D viewer is the easiest solution. Sure, if you have had the 2D viewer before than maybe you can get by on the data viewer without ever using the 2D viewer again.

Data viewer can show:

[*]Whose drivers are using KERS or DRS

You are not just stuck staring at numbers the entire time. While the data viewer shows the telemetry and your drivers real-time acceleration and deceleration, it only shows you what is going on three times per lap. The 2D viewer allows real time awareness. For example, another driver might be getting into DRS range of your driver, and you can use KERS to keep the gap open. Or perhaps you notice that another driver's tyres are losing their temperatures rapidly, or are overheating and are not performing at their best. You notice that your driver is catching up to them, however, you might need to overtake them by using KERS (maybe you might not get to overtake using DRS if they have to pit) so you do not get stuck behind that driver and fall behind from the rest of the pack or race leaders.

No -  to be serious: you can compete and win a championship with the simple viewer - but the 2D viewer gives some advantages ( like tire temps of opponents) and it is worth paying for it, if you want that advantages...

The problem is 2d view is pretty much the only subscriber benefit worth anything. Driver search skills view while useful isn't really worth money on it's own, ad free hasn't mattered in years since everyone started running adblock by default when web ads turned malicious, livery painter is a complete gimmick, and the league hosting beenfits only matter if you are going to host a league.

The only way to upend 2d view as the reason to subscribe would be to add some serious pay2win advantages to subscribers, and that would be, frankly, a garbage way of handling things.

That is indeed true. I imagine when the game switches to HTML5 and the mobile app is released they will be able to focus on having some real incentives for subscribing. I can't wait until Java gets tossed into the garbage and the mobile app comes along.

I may of been dreaming but I think Jack himself said he was thinking about doing away with subscriptions once they migrated the system to HTML5 that way 2D viewer would be free for everyone. :)

Maybe they will add premium content that can be purchased with spare tyres :D & make money that way to cover server charges & game development.
100 Tyres = $1
500 Tyres = $5
1000 Tyres = $10
5000 Tyres = $50
10000 Tyres = $100

Some of the content could be drivers helmets, car liveries, staff clothing of pit crews working on car during pit stops, change drivers, staff & suppliers names, limited time use fancy frontwings.
The list could go on and on. :) I'm sure whatever they do it will be great & it will make the game more exciting.

i do hope 3d view will come in soon, i really want it to replicate the feel of being a proper team boss, maybe like a pit wall view of all your staff from 1st person?

Hmm though at the moment iGP is something that actually works! If it was to start getting too technical and savvy then people on slower machines would ultimetly lose out, losing money and players; also and just as important, the actual feel of the game would be lost. So many games out there keep trying to re-invent themselves (cough* Call of Duty) and it simply doesn't work because the original game is lost through mindless and often ridiculous updates. 

Basically keep 2D, make people pay for it (It's not expensive) and maybe add a couple of extra features that IMPROVE what is already there, not turn it into some tech fiascal where I no longer want to play. How about extra training sessions for your drivers inbetween seasons? 

BTW James Greer, making people pay for tyres is a rubbish idea, iGP would die overnight if that happened

Virtual Cash in the form of Tyres to purchase items, I wasn't taking about buying Tyres to race with.

Okay, I do apologise but we do pay for tyres, just not individually; or maybe not as much as we should.
