After the end of the season I am planning to leave my league for one or two seasons and then probably rejoin later. I am afraid to loose my car development points I collected throughout the last season when not leaving and rejoining at the right time. Is there any difference if I leave right after seasons end (right after the last race) or at the start of the new season (before first race of the new season)? Is there a perfect time for rejoining? It is important to know because we have only one race a week and a season with an underdeveloped car would make me be incompetitive for months... Thanks for your comments.

You are OK to leave after the final race. When you are ready to rejoin the league you should do so in the break between seasons.
Leaving and rejoining the same league during the season break (without joining an interim league) will result in your design being unchanged.
