We are currently limited to 5 chief designers.

With tyre economy now being important, my suggestion is moving the CD cap from 5 to 6 to enable us maximise research and reduce the stress of spending 50 tokens every other race to change attributes.

I'm confused here, are you saying you have 5 CDs? If so could I ask why? I assume it's to change for each attribute, but does the cost not outway the gains?

@dario when you are competing in the ultra competitive leagues that research bonus from a CD is super important.

I agree with all comments. I believe the limit of 5 was introduced to stop managers from exploiting the old transfer system and effectively taking loads of high level CDs out of the market.

Increasing the limit to 6 would make sense based on recent game changes, although personally think it only becomes an issue towards the end of the season.

Is the difference really have much? From my experience it's not, plus you don't have to make each stat 200 because of the bonuses. Surely you can use the DP elsewhere? From my understanding it doesn't make sense to switch.

I've been surprised to see more and more heading the TE route early on now instead of end of the season. Those that did more or less dominated those tracks with long pits as they were able to go -1 as opposed to others.

Yes can see that. On my main account the missing one is FE so try to manually add DP as season progresses. For this account it was previously in a no refuelling league so FE was the first CD I looked for. Having 6 would give so much more flexibility even though it is impossible to max everything across the season.

It’s a small difference only most of the time as you say but I was specifically targeting ultra comp leagues as 1 or 2 DP can be difference between top 10 and back of the grid. ?

No I get having 1 is critical, I just don't get 5 CDs, all your doing is swapping your attributes around. You still have the exact exact DP even if you had 5CDs. It's expensive for nothing, that's just how I see it.

You're not swapping your attributes around. Managers who adopt this strategy only use the different CDs to maximise research for this season.

At the end of the season they reset their cars for next season so as to have the CD strength in only one attribute. Of course, when you adopt this strategy only the CD strength is important, weakness is irrelevant. The only CD that has to have a "good" weakness is the one you use to reset.

But as for the sugestion I'm not sure I agree. Everyone has a limit of 5 CDs so which attribute you have to sacrifice is another management decision you have to make. Different managers will presumably adopt differing research and development strategies.

With a limit of 5 CDs, those who can afford it will swap CDs in and out of their multiple accounts to optimise research.

No I get having 1 is critical, I just don't get 5 CDs, all your doing is swapping your attributes around. You still have the exact exact DP even if you had 5CDs. It's expensive for nothing, that's just how I see it.

If you swap them smartly you are ensuring you always research the area you are furthest behind with a CD that has the said area as a strength. Over the season you will earn more DP pts than someone who uses a single CD

I disagree with you. I should be given the tools and opportunity to make proper choices and not handicapped. That doesn't make it any less a management game.

I shouldn't be 'forced' to sacrifice, I should 'chose' to sacrifice. That's better management imo.

In theory I tend more towards what Kevin wrote. However in iGP reality teams can circumvent that sacrifice by swapping CDs around between teams. Having to choose between that or just being able to keep enough CDs in team I think the latter would be the lesser evil.
