As anyone online now would have noticed, the service was just down for approximately 30 minutes.
The datacenter our server(s) are hosted in had some issues and we had to request that one of their engineers go in and repair the problem (physically, in person).
Thankfully they did this relatively quickly and the issue is resolved. We will be waiting to hear back from them on what caused the outage.

In other news, this kind of issue will be far less likely once the mobile app is launched, as the service will have a different architecture designed to prevent it. Currently we rely on one provider and datacenter for the service, and any faults in their service get automatically passed on to us. This won't be the case in the future.
