You can effectively utilise team orders with your push level control already. I've done it many times to make sure my drivers are in the dersired order by the finish. Assuming it was safe to be playing with the pace of my cars at the start.
Yeah but tyre graining is more likely that why.
I'm sorry but I don't understand you here. Pushing one of my cars to PL1 while leaving the other on PL5, maybe with a touch of boost it's very easy to rejig the order of my cars as required. Or drop one far enough back to change the DRS chain order. Don't really see how tyre graining has any bearing in the discussion whatsoever.
Then your wasting boost which you may need later in the race aren’t you.
Not at all. If I don’t have boost to spare I’m probably not in a position where team orders would be appropriate or practical. And as I said you don’t necessarily even need boost. just got to get the planning right.
So considering that it’s possible to self engineer the position of your cars already, what benefit do team orders have? Other than making it easier to do the same thing.
If it were introduced I think there should be the possibility of severe issues, maybe drive morale impacts, or your driver resigning (but this of course would then need an entire driver status system to be implemented so that a clearly employed #2 driver would not be impacted by this sort of thing.) Or perhaps consequences such as getting the position swap wrong and losing enough pace to lose several places to competitors.
it would needs to have risks of some sort attached to it otherwise to me it would detract from the game rather than add to it.
But to reiterate. I think it’s unnecessary. It’s perfectly possible to swap drivers round already, with a small cost to yourself sometimes, but you shouldn’t have something for free anyway.
