So imagine this scenario when your in a two car league.
You have one driver in the fight for a championship and one driver that is not. The driver that is not in the fight is in front.
You have a problem don’t you?
You could put the driver in front but that always run the risk of losing points and positions to car’s behind therefore costing you points in the team’s championship.
I guess you’re thinking what if there was another way round this? Something like team orders to add the comfort in terms of points in the team’s championship.
I know the drivers championship isn’t everything in this game but it would if at any point you want to sell that driver for whatever reason.
Comment your thoughts below.

You can effectively utilise team orders with your push level control already. I've done it many times to make sure my drivers are in the dersired order by the finish. Assuming it was safe to be playing with the pace of my cars at the start.

Yeah but tyre graining is more likely that why.

I'm sorry but I don't understand you here. Pushing one of my cars to PL1 while leaving the other on PL5, maybe with a touch of boost it's very easy to rejig the order of my cars as required. Or drop one far enough back to change the DRS chain order. Don't really see how tyre graining has any bearing in the discussion whatsoever.

Then your wasting boost which you may need later in the race aren’t you.

Not at all. If I don’t have boost to spare I’m probably not in a position where team orders would be appropriate or practical. And as I said you don’t necessarily even need boost. just got to get the planning right.

So considering that it’s possible to self engineer the position of your cars already, what benefit do team orders have? Other than making it easier to do the same thing.

If it were introduced I think there should be the possibility of severe issues, maybe drive morale impacts, or your driver resigning (but this of course would then need an entire driver status system to be implemented so that a clearly employed #2 driver would not be impacted by this sort of thing.) Or perhaps consequences such as getting the position swap wrong and losing enough pace to lose several places to competitors.

it would needs to have risks of some sort attached to it otherwise to me it would detract from the game rather than add to it.

But to reiterate. I think it’s unnecessary. It’s perfectly possible to swap drivers round already, with a small cost to yourself sometimes, but you shouldn’t have something for free anyway.

I’m not talking of have team employee a #2 driver. As I said when writing the post it’s in case of the championship situation

I don't see how that changes anything. A championship is fought across the entire season. Or are you suggesting that these team orders should only be available in the final race of the season?

Is anyone actually bothered about drivers championship?  I don’t think I ever looked at the standings in 4 yrs only Team championship

It's fair to assume that someone could be bothered about the drivers championship. And it's good to have something to fight for in 2 car, the constructors can be out of reach without the drivers being decided so it can keep interest in a season alive.

Well it would help driver momentum.
