Had a wet race in US. Was largely being shown 2.1L each lap at PL4. Had the right amount of fuel in the car for 2.1 each lap with only a few laps when I could go 2.2. So was checking every lap and 2.1 is being shown. But then all of a sudden I'll be running out of fuel before the end, and it's too late to do anything about it.

Even though I was maintaining 2.1 on nearly every lap with different (lower) PLs, and the display is confirming 2.1L, the distance I'm running out at is getting further an further away. So still 2.2 being taken at times when I'm being told different.

I've asked before why this happens and was told that the fuel goes to more than one decimal place - well that's fine but can we at least see this so we can manage our fuel more precisely? Happens too often imo.

Yes just like fuel consumption is shown to two decimal places in practice / setup, it would be nice to have the same precision in case of both fuel left and fuel consumed during the last lap in race setting.

I think that this has been suggested before.  If I do have it correct, the amount of extra server space required and thus cost would make this minor sounding change cost prohibative.

Would it really require a lot of extra serve space just to display fuel to two decimal places?
Doesn't change any calculations the game has to make, as it's clearly making these fuel calculations in the background anyway.
Surely it's just a minor tweak to the user interface during a race?

It probably doesn't affect the space or cost of the server in any way. It is most likely that the value is simply rounded up; the information is already calculated and processed by the server, converted to binary, and sent to the players.
In computing the size of a data type, such as a float, does not change based on the value (precision included). The size is fixed and at most will represent a specific range of values.

From what I remember.  This is true.  But just try and scale it up for every race that is run in one hour.

It will affect the amount of graphics data required to put the extra digit in place.  Then take my previous comment about overall scale of doing this for every race at one time

I am not saying that this is a bad idea. I am saying, from previous discussion about this that it will take too many resources away from more important "patches", bug fixes and improvements in the future.
