League Ratings

Picture this: Someone joins your league, doesn't like it, gives you a horrible rating, and leaves. 2 years later, that rating is still there. The league has gone to a different host and almost everyone is different. It's basically a different league. But yet, that 1 star rating stays there. And your league will never recover, because they're stuck with it.

What I'm suggesting is that after x amount of time, the rating goes away, to prevent outdated ratings, like the example I provided. It can be several months, a year, really anything. This would also prevent trolls that go from league to league, giving bad ratings. 

I also think that stars should round, so that 4.8 is 5, not 4.5. But that's for another thread.

Personally I’m ambivalent about your suggestion.  However while I understand why you think the change is necessary what about when bad ratings are genuine?   Your proposal would stop prospective joiners from seeing a potential red flag so it’s not clear cut to me that your suggestion would be an improvement.

I completely get your point. However, when the bad rating is genuine, then it'll continue to get bad ratings and the league will stay low rated.


Leagues change over time, yes? So if the bad rating is genuine, but the league completely changes, is it realistic? It prevents outdated ratings from hurting leagues.

Additionally, maybe you could have the option to view archived ratings as well?

This suggestion is reasonable.

Any rating (good or bad) older than some month should be deleted if the player is no more present in that league.

6 months are a fair window.

Maybe, but no other type of review drops rating s once they reach a certain age.  I don’t believe this would be a priority for iGP now or in the future since there will always be items deemed more important. 

I agree, it's not high on the list by any means. But it is something to put on the radar.

Surely a league of say 20 managers over the course of a year giving it 4+ rating v 1 negative rating shouldn't impact it that much.  I've had enough bad ratings on xbox live to know that some people are just malicious enough to rate badly, leaving the game early for example which is a ridiculous rating to even have in the first place, but it really hasn;t had any impact. They addressed it by having a question pop up asking if you really wish to give the rating or if you feel strongly enough to make a full report where in that respect they should have not bothered with the rating system and just left it at a full report reinforcing that any false report reports would have dire consequences.

All up it would be better to just write it up in the forum if it's something that bad, ideally if it's the host then don't bag the entire league. I'd imagine most managers don't even pay much attention to the league ratings (no idea tbh) but to have a 5 star rating and then not even be able to be found (from a new account perspective) is disconcerting. 

I agree. I think 6 months is good. I was also thinking about each time the host changes, but that is a bad idea for obvious reasons.


6 months is the best option in my opinion. I think 1 year is too long.
