How can this be tweaked to add incentives for managers to be more active/online? - Allowing managers who work for good results, a bit more cash-incentives, without going overboard or tweaked not to negatively affect races. ?
Good idea. Quite difficult to have a full league race with everyone playing.
I would add:
1M bonus for participating in the live race
1M for doing the setup.

The examples above like “finish both cars within sponsor target” and “lead 10 laps in a race” are easier achieved when online. So the same effect without having to check if a user was online when they achieved. Being online does not affect those bonuses but thankfully it would be a positive side effect of these per-race bonus that are tied to practice (have to be login to practice), qualifying (have to practice for chance at pole) and race results (easier to beat sponsor targets when online)
I think $10k and $20k amount adds up enough at the end of a sponsors contract to be a nice lil worthwhile bonus.
Things like “topping practice sheet” bonus or the “qualify on pole” encourages being online without paying players to do what’s just a natural part of the game.
the managers I chat with, we struggle more for cash now at level 20 to 24 than we ever did at say level 14 up.
Im surprised you know that many cash-rich managers who are not dependent on real money to stay afloat.
In any case, that could be tweaked as well by reducing the reward amount based on manager level, similar to how research power is reduced as you level up.
Any additional incentive associated with the actual race is welcome in my opinion. I just don’t see how having rewards for practice and qualifying would make any sense. To top both these sessions under dry conditions one has to be preferably on the softest compound. What I feel is by introducing an incentive for qualifying, you run a risk of race strategy being monotonous and uniform across the entire grid, especially in no refuelling leagues.
Hence I would prefer something like what Astro suggested above; maybe X bonus for doing setup, Y bonus for logging into the race, however paid out only if one meets the sponsor objective.

I see you points. Maybe. But For me…
My thought was that managers would have to risk going for it. Just like they do for the fastest lap extra point. Each manager would need to decide if they use up extra SS in practice to try fastest time. Likewise managers will have to be realistic in deciding if to ruin their race strategy to start of SS or less fuel to get pole for sponsorship attention and the small cash bonus. Or, to take advantage of others who may be going for it by instead starting on the ideal strategy/compound and trying for a win/podium.
In my view it could actually help because some of the faster teams may try going for it with a non-ideal strategy which would be helpful for slower teams.
20k isn’t really that much to risk it all for, if you make too big of a risk, you miss the much more substantial prize money of hitting sponsors race target. So to me it’s adds something cool.
