I just hit lvl 30 and was excited to change the engine weakness to something like Cooling or Reliability but that's not even an option. Why isn't Cooling and Reliability an option for the weaknesses but it's an option for strengths. Pls change so Cooling and Reliability can be chosen as weaknesses.

It is not available with the intent to balance the strength of lvl 30 engine.

To see Cooling and Reliability become an option for weaknesses, the player base will need to persuade the dev team to actually give Cooling and Reliability meaningful impact in the design. These two attributes have not been functional since the current iteration of the game was made live in 2016. I suspect they were not functional in the original version of iGP either.

The only issue with implementing a stronger impact using those two attributes is the state of the game and the balance it's currently at. Nothing is perfect, but it's in a good place and altering attributes whether it's buffing or nerfing some throws the entire balance off.

Cooling does have a minimal effect... It'd be more effective if a league could limit the number of new engines in a season like they do in F1... But if course the would mean less people using tokens to buy engines. So it prob won't happen.

Cooling and Reliability do a functional impact in Performance. This however is more impactful for Daily Leagues.
Performance of engine degrades with Engine Health decreases. This is mitigated with Cooling.
Reliability also functions in the same way with the chassis components.
Car with 80% engine compared to a 90% engine will be slower.
The affects are miniscule however.

I'm not certain reliability impacts the cars pace at all until it retires, but if it is something you are certain of i'm intrigued.
Worn engines do affect the cars performance as you say, however this can be easily mitigated by fitting a fresh engine every race. I'm not sure i've ever managed to observe within a single race a drop off in pace due to engine deterioration.
