Yes this is yet another post about discrepancies seen between the API Data, and the weather information seen in the game.

Latest instance for an upcoming race at Monza,
In game weather data:
https://prnt.sc/Hp4bdnb3WzdI
Weather from the Openweather app: https://prnt.sc/UXN64-wyfQtN

For context the Openweather mobile app is based off the same OneCall API that is used commercially by iGP to provide weather data.

To account for any delay that might exist, I was monitoring the weather on the game homescreen for 30 minutes hoping for a change from cloudy to raining.

The exact address of the circuit as seen on Google Maps has been provided into the Weather app:
Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, 5, Viale Vedano, Parco, Monza, Monza and Brianza, Lombardy,
20900, Italy

A while ago there was a similar disconnect at Russia, where in while the weather app pointed to no rain (rechecked while it started to rain), it rained during the live race.

The disconnect between the two makes it almost impossible to predict and plan for races, and based on previous reports its not the first time this issue is seen.

At this point I don’t think there are many managers who care for real world weather data, but rather iGP simulating the weather, and introducing (re-introducing), a weather station under the HQ that predicts the weather to a variable degree based on its level.

Hey Fried,

Thanks for your report could you please mentioned the exact UTC hour of the screenshots?

About the Russian mention, unfortunately there’s nothing we can do and same with the OpenWeather provider. I had a meeting with them and the information in the Russian territory is very unreliable due to sanctions. OpenWeather doesn’t have control over these weather stations anymore due to the Russian regime decisions linked to their invasion.

Hi Jose,

The screenshots are timestamped at 11:59 UTC, although I had been observing the data starting 11:45 UTC.

As for the Russian weather report, what I am trying to point out isn't a desync between the ground weather and the API data, but rather in the API data between the Openweather app and iGP (which technically use the same API under the hood).

Unless the Provider meant that the API relays erratic weather data for Russian territory, in which case that’s a totally understandable explanation.

Thanks
