Hello everyone

I want to buy a driver, however he is locked and I cannot buy him because of that. Will he get unlocked, or is this a permanent thing?

My understanding of this is that iGP doesn't allow you to sign drivers outside of an auction unless that driver has once been in your team. I quote the changelog dated 07 July 2021: "Free-agent Drivers and staff can no longer be bought outside of an Auction. The exception to the rule is if a driver or staff member has ever been in your team before, then you may re-sign them. The capability to sign any free agent was being abused via browser scripts that scan all possible URLs, hoarding the best drivers and staff, with the aim of preventing other managers from accessing them. Such antics are no longer possible. We will also be looking in to improvements to the transfers system to offer more ways to access a wider range of drivers and staff" Hope this helps explain.

I'm quite sure that this will take a lot of time and would be unnecesary, but is it possible for a mod to make him buyable again?

I doubt they would, I’ve found a few T30s that were quick sold after searching for some time, and they were all locked. Some people are able to cheat, and the new restriction is in place to deal with that, and they mods can’t make an exception just for you because they would have to do it for everyone.

The change was made because there were players using scripts to hoover up all the decent drivers and stockpiling them so no one else had access to them.

In theory drivers in the out of contract area can be pulled into the auction house at any time. So they aren’t completely inaccessible. I’ve made the mistake of letting a drivers contract expire and they were purchased by another team before I could recover them. The only way that could have happened is if the driver hit the auction house.

I don’t think you get a notification if this happens to a driver you have on your shortlist though. (I believe you get one if a shortlisted driver is transfer listed by a player?)

That might be a useful addition.

You would have 3-4 minutes to respond at best but better than nothing.

You can easy find a better driver in the market. Forget him. ;-)
