France:
The winner qualified on SS (pole position) and only ran for 5 laps in a refuelling allowed league. So, not only was he on faster tyres than you he was also fuelled for three laps less so was considerably lighter.
By the time he pitted at the end of lap 5 he was already over 8 seconds ahead of you.
He exited the pit on fresh Inters and you were lapping on Inters that were most likely already worn to the point they were beginning to slow.
By lap 12 you were 19 seconds behind. I can't see who boosted when, nor who was fortunate enough to be in a DRS train, this can make a huge difference.
As for strategies
Winner - 5SS / 10M / 10M / 9M / 4SS (4 stops)
You (P2) - 8S / 10M / 10M / 11M / 9S (3 stops)
How can you say you ran similar strategies?
As I said in my previous comment disregard the final SS stint as that was a bonus for being so far ahead. So yeah they are similar strategies except the starting tyre. The bulk of the race was on the same compound.
My conclusion was drs, that's the only thing that can create such a huge gap.
Nope. Can’t compare strategies like that, my friend. France is a tyre-eater so the difference between 11 laps on meds and 9 laps on meds….
Did you consider the effect of your worn out meds against a fresh set of softer compounds? For 2 whole laps, you’re gradually slowing down while your opponent is flying on a softer compound, can kill a race easy enough
