I tried to password protect BRL, for a few days, that stopped the messages, today I removed the password, and now they have resumed.

How often were you receiving the messages? Each time you edited the league, presumably?

It was a notification sent when a league was edited, and it was loading the language file for the league edit page instead of the one that should be used for the mail to notify managers of changes. Whoops!
