What did you try to do?
I bid once on https://igpmanager.com/app/d=staff&id=14836471
Then back in the roster, I didn’t know what the hammer symbol was for so i pressed it - only to realize that it was the bid button.
What happened instead?
It took it as a bid despite me being the only bidder - and took the 3 tokens I’ve spent on both bids.
Did the problem happen while using wi-fi, mobile data, or both?
Wi-fi
Did the bug happen in the app, on PC, or both?
App
What is the model of your device?
Iphone 13 mini
What is the operating system?
iOS
What is the version number of the operating system?
Irrelevant
Can the bug be reproduced?
Probably but not trying again.
Additional comments:
It’s counter intuitive to allow people who are the only bidders to be able to bid again - why would anyone want to do that?
Please return 2 tokens from the 2nd bid - and replace the hammer symbol with BID.

Hey Tudor,
This is not a bug and it’s not a fault of design. If it was counterintuitive we would have dozens of reports!
Unfortunately there’s nothing I can do about it.

Very interesting.
So why would anyone want to bid multiple times on the same driver/staff member, if that literally means excessive/unneeded spending (since they’re the only bidder)? It’s like adding a mechanic/button that is in the detriment of players and hoping they don’t realize it?
Why do you give that option to begin with? People make mistakes, especially in a game that’s not always transparent with regards to game mechanics (and no, we’re not talking strategy aspects). Having a symbol for a button instead of a word that says what the button does is a simple design choice, it’s simply a matter of deciding whether someone profits from a player mistake or not. Or at least - if we love hammers so much - have the button greyed out for those who already bid and there’s nobody else. Simple if-then programming condition.
It’s not enough we’re doing FQA work for y’all, we gotta give design suggestions as well..

Sounds good, thanks for your suggestion!

Really? Sarcasm/irony is the last thing I would’ve expected.
Well (not that you’d care, apparently), since I need to haggle for 2 tokens for something that you (not you, Jose, obviously) could’ve done better and I’m getting this attitude (from you, Jose), rest assured I won’t be spending a single cent on this game anymore.
All this <small team, no money for improvements> bs, getting a ton of suggestions and bug reports from us, effectively doing y’alls work for free, and then to be treated with sarcasm.
My friend, I work in the mobile games industry, this is how you lose your revenue.
Good luck.

Where’s the sarcasm? It was noted internally even if this isn’t a suggestion topic.
Maybe the sense was lost in the translation, no worries!

Hey again,
I’ve carefully reviewed the feature and your suggestion. The icon is there for a very simple reason, it’s a quick action button, it’s very convenient when you’re participating in several bid wars at once.
Including text isn’t possible for two reasons:
There’s no space on mobile screens to keep it in one row.
It would even be more messy for localizations, as you know, a short word as “Bid” can turn into a longer one in other languages.
You also claimed a point I had like to discuss, according to you it isn’t intuitive and also it was designed like this to take advantage of this confusion and earn more tokens.
Do you really believe we’re getting anything meaningful from a few managers that are confused (so far since I work here this is the first report of this kind so this is not the goldmine you expect…). Additionally, it’s intuitive enough, the same icon (bid hammer) is used when you open the full dialog and it’s shared in both placements so the link icon—meaning is clear enough. On top of that, if by a confusion you click once the quick action button you can see the token balance decreasing.
Since you work in the industry as well you should reconsider your position based on the arguments explained above.

Thanks for coming back with a bit more details.
What i would’ve expected by pressing the button, was to see how many bids/who placed a bid on that person (if there were any).
I never used it for a quick action because i need to see the strength and weakness of a designer (I would assume that’s normal behavior).
The localization argument - ok, I get it.
Allowing bidders to bid again when it’s just them in the race - no, I can’t say I get it. Having it greyed out would solve it.
Not many people complained before? Guess I’m more curios in nature, to see what’s behind buttons (assuming it’s not something obviously stupid). People here don’t read the forums (which have a clear label on the menu), you expect them to read all the descriptions and complain about a specific button..? Also, I share an opinion (when I have something to share) because I care, not to give you more work.
Lastly, the gold mine thing.. do you realize how silly that sounds? I’m not saying you purposefully made it as such, I’m just saying people can get confused and for a good reason. The intentionality comes from us haggling for 2 tokens because you’ve put all responsibility on me and 0 on whoever thought about that button, do you realize how silly that is?
And to top it off, you still couldn’t tell me why solo bidders are allowed to bid again. How that happens or how it can be prevented is a different discussion, I was just asking for the logic. Bidding wars? I can see that. With myself? No thank you. And one more - I bid twice, yet to my understanding the tokens get refunded to the loser, but both my bids were taken into account and I lost the credits for both. You see how something so accidental contradicts both logic and what is written there?
I’m not gonna argue anymore, I think I brought all the arguments and angles one could think of (rationally). It’s the gesture of washing your hands that left a bad taste, cause 2 tokens.. you make those in 2/3 of a race. Just a shame..
