Fix the 2-tyre rule

I'll start with a short story.
There was recently a race, where the rain stops before the race starts and never returns, but it was still wet so people uses inters at the start.
League has two compound rule, so people are forced to use two different compounds. But everybody already has a stint of inters, so we can use another dry compound for the rest of the race, right?
But people get disqualified, because intermediate wet doesn't count as a compound.
-------------------------

I know, that this isn't a bug, but the way how 2-compound rule work in iGP (min. 2 different dry compounds unless there's rain in a race) is really confusing. Why only dry compounds? Why rule cancels only if there was a rain? It's not what you can figure out instantly when see "2-compound" rule on.
So, I want to suggest a rework for 2-compound rule to sound and work like this: "you need to use 2 different compounds unless you use Inter or Wet"
or "you need to use 2 different compounds or Inter or Wet", that's basically the same with different words.

Hey Mysterious Girl,

Thanks for your feedback. Do you think that adding W and I to the rule would work? We can do that, so removing the need of Dry only.

It's an idea we did consider internally in the past but we never implemented it.

I would love to hear the opinions of other managers. If the suggestion receives enough attention, we can try to make room for this change in a future update. We are currently extremely short on manpower related to the stuff to do.

Hello, Jose, thanks for the quick answer,

Jose

Adding W and I to the rule might work, but there could be a races when water would never drop to dry state, and it'll be more likely as winter comes.
As a temporarily fix, it could be. But I think it's better to have it as I described, because it doesn't have niche cases like this at all.

I think it's better to take some more time and make it properly, so it's not based in rain and instead is based on water on track. This might require more wait from the community but the fix is worth it.

IIRC, this was already implemented a long time ago. Were the changes overwritten in the Feb 2025 update?

Inters should count as one of the two compounds providing the water level is above zero at the start of the race. regardless of whether or not it rains.

You only get caught out if it's a wet qualifying but stops raining and the track is dry (0mm) at lights out. Then you must use 2 dry compounds.

The participants of the race said it was wet at the start of the race. So it's looks like changes were overwritten.

Which race are you referring to? None of the races in your league this season appear to have had a wet qualifying.

Edit... Apologies, it has been pointed out to me that you linked the race in the original post.

I am totally on mysterious girl's story. Witnessed it my league, too. you start on inters, but then start sequence it stop raining but the track is wet. Then you go for about 8 rounds, pit and do all stints the on the same dry trye componds, you get disqualified. Something we had to learn painfully and adapt into the going strategy

The league I’m in got bit by this same issue today. We all started on inters and please let me be clear, it was raining at the start of the race. But it was light rain and by about lap 4 it had stopped and the track started drying. Once dry we then switched to hard compound which we ran 2 stints on, resulting in 8 of the top 10 finishers being disqualified

Hey managers,

We've applied lots of fixes and improvements related to this. The system is much more robust and smart now. Please let us know in a new report if you find any issue!
