Implementation of race length

I took over the management of our league two days ago. Boosted the league to Bronze status, and changed the race length to 100%, expecting the change to kick in after the first subsequent race. However, this did not happen.
Do such changes only come into effect during the next season? If so, will the three boosts I spent to get to Bronze be deducted from the league bank, even though no advantage was derived during this season?
Can anybody please explain to me how this works? 

I think yes and it makes sense. I boosted a league yesterday and the boosts were not used yet. They’ll likely be used when the new season starts.
