My engine supplier says it's going to restock engines in 20 races. Just getting back into this game, is this right? Or is this because there's only a few races left in the season and it will reset on a new season? Thanks for any feedback.

Hi Jason, engines restock every 20 races, that's the regular rate.

Jack - on this. If i purchase some more engines towards the back-end of a season (i.e. i am running out of fresh ones), do they disappear with a restock or do they get rolled over? for example if i had 4 purchased engines left at the last race of a stock period, would i then have 24 engines (20 new ones plus the 4 purchased) or would i lose the 4 i purchased and go back to 20 available?

The way restocking works is that if you have less than 20 engines (in a 2-car team) it will stock them back up to 20 at the restock, and if you have less than 10 in a 1-car team it will stock them back up to 10. If you have more than this, it doesn't restock.

This stops the engine count from getting excessive and ensures they all get used, and something similar is needed for parts since there's an excess of those in most teams.

As the limits are 20 & 10 and you cant carry 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 engines over from the stock before. I have tried it and it resets to 20 always.

Why do we have this in the shop?

Value for money would be to buy 5, 10, 20, 25 as it cost 3 for 1 engine lol

So if i want to make it to the end of the season in that scenario, i either need to buy a range of options to get just the right amount, or accept i am going to lose engines i have put tokens down for?

Just so i understand it right...

If you have 50 engines at a restock you will have 50 engines after, but if you have 10 and 2 cars you will get 20 and so on. You never lose engines you have bought for tokens, so I'm not sure what you mean.

What he means is, I think, that in his scenario of having 4 bought engines left before a restock the only difference after the restock between having bought those engine and not is owning 2-4 tokens less. So the advantage of having those 4 engines bought was lost, even if the engines themselves are still technically there.

You've got a good point. If I get restocked and use 20 engines in 10 races, at most, there's 10 races remaining until the next restock. Buying more than 20 would be unnecessary.

And I do this btw, I blow through 40 engines per season since I've got tokens to blow. I haven't even touched the tokens I get from my legacy subscription or the tokens converted from reward points from old iGP. I've gotten ~80 tokens saved up from sponsorship.

Thats exactly what i meant. I get restocked back to 20 which, technically, means i have lost the benefit of the engines i purchased or i didnt get a full restock because i had purchased some.

Its a small detail, but a detail none-the-less.

In my real-time example. After todays race i will have 3 races left and no engines left. I would either buy 5 engines and 1 driver will miss a restock for 1 race, or i buy 2 lots of 3 engines for more tokens to match it to 6 engines required, or i buy 10 engines for more tokens and accept i will actually 'lose' 4 of those engines because the restock won't just add 20 engines to my remaining 4.

Just a suggestion (and i know you want to avoid people hording engines) - you can roll over any engines you purchase (up to a maximum of 10).

So in that example, if you buy 10 engines during a season with tokens and dont use any of them, then you get your 20 restock added to the 10 purchased. But you wouldnt be able to purchase any more engines until you have used some of the purchased ones (i.e. more than 20 engines in the season).

So the maximum amount you could ever have would be 30 engines, and engines unused from your restocks arent rolled over.

Would that work? or is that just too complex?

Depends if only bought engines should roll over. I don't think the game makes any difference yet so if the game should make a difference between bought and supplied engines it would need some rewriting of the engine supply and replace code. If it's just 10 engines rolling over it should just be setting the engine target to 30 and adding, if it's not already there, a check to limit the maximum supplied engines to 20.

Maybe i am making it harder work for little reward. It's just a bit of a pain really (a small pain, granted) to be purchasing engines that disappear at restock.

One for the 'perhaps one day' list.

ok just looked over this thread and still none the wiser.

so question is are brought engines rolled over.

so on a 2 car team u could use 40 engines a season 20 stock 20 brought.

in the shop u can buy 50 engines in one go making 70 engines to use

so i would have 30 engines unused by the end of the season.

so would i get 30 + 20 engines at new season or no new engines apart from the 30 i already have.

if you have over 20 you get nothing on restock but if you had 19 you be back to 20

I done that a few times too, it's the piston heads instead of nuts and bolts that are off putting lol

so no i have to choose weather to waste engines or tokens as there is no options to buy 18 or 16 engines in one go.

Just a matter of getting your timing right. 3 tokens per race = 51 tokens a season, and you need 32 engines in a season. so once you get your 20 restock buy 2x25 will take you to 70 engines then is just a matter of keeping topping up to make sure you avoid restocks

Yes, you'll either buy 20 and loose 2 tokens for buying engines you'd get for free otherwise or loose 1 token for having to pay 19 token to get exactly 18. In the rare case of needing 16 it should be possible to find one race where one car can use an old engine, but still not a perfectly satisfying solution.
