Some long-time managers are frustrated because lower-level managers are now winning races and finishing ahead of them in the season.
The game has shifted from “higher level = guaranteed advantage” toward percentages, resource management, and strategy.
For example:

  • Level 40 team + Tech 35 = 87.5% of Boost and DRS potencial

  • Level 15 + Tech 14 = 93.33%

  • Level 25 + Tech 20 = 80%

High-level managers have more DPs, while lower-level managers can have more Research. These advantages can largely balance out, making strategy, DP allocation, engine strength/weakenes, chassis choices, PL, ..., much more important.
The argument that low-level players are simply being “given success” ignores the fact that they still need to use their resources effectively.
There is also a retention issue. Not everyone has time to grind Sprint races all day to get more XP points. People have jobs, families, and a life outside iGP. If a new manager needs at least 2 years and 8 months, maybe more, before becoming competitive, many simply won't stay.
The goal isn't to take away the advantage earned by veteran managers. It's to make sure new managers have a realistic reason to keep playing.
Am I wrong?

I don’t think you’re wrong. The point about retention is especially important. Veteran managers should still benefit from the time and experience they’ve invested, but if progression is too slow for new players, many of them will simply leave before they ever get the chance to compete. If strategy, resource management, and research can help close the gap, that seems healthier for the game than making level alone determine the outcome.
