I’m writing this detailed review of the VIP experience and Gold league upgrades to highlight what works, what doesn’t, and whether these paid features are actually worth considering.
1. VIP Experience Issues
- Multi-league limit: Being in 3 leagues is pointless unless engine allocation scales. You still only get 10 engines total, meaning you run out in 5 days if you try to compete in more than one league.
- Missing perks: I never received the free boost included with VIP.
- Bench atrophy bug: The inactivity atrophy for the bench doesn't get disabled as intended—drivers on the bench still lose condition even when not racing.
2. League Gold & Bronze Upgrades
- Auto-kick (Bronze): Set to 3 days of inactivity, but the system simply doesn't work; inactive members are not removed.
- AFK Mode: Useful concept, but charging Gold for it is unnecessary since leagues easily coordinate this via external chat groups.
3. "Realistic Settings" (The Biggest Flaw)
Far from being realistic, this feature is broken:
- No track logic: You can use the exact same setup for every single race on every track and remain competitive. Winning at Monza with high-lift wings makes zero sense.
- Placebo effect: Players trying to use realistic setups actually end up with worse pace than those using generic setups.
- Compared to actual management games (Assetto Corsa, Motorsport Manager, Codemasters F1), this feature is poorly designed and adds no real value.
Conclusion
Our league has decided not to renew Gold mode. These features feel like a waste of money due to poor implementation. If developers don't listen to the community and overhaul these systems instead of focusing on useless cosmetics, these features will remain useless pieces of code.
As a long-time user of the game, I feel that the community is not being given proper attention, and focus is instead placed on adding unnecessary nonsense that only harms the game. Instead of spending money on dance animations, that budget could be invested in developing better VIP options and Gold upgrades, which would actually generate a return on investment since they are paid features. In our case, the realistic settings turned out to be a total fiasco for my league, driving people away once they realized it didn't work, rather than achieving the opposite effect: a feature that makes people want to join because it looks different and better than other leagues.
