How are sponsor objectives calculated?

I have the best car in our league, but often have a goal like "finish in the top 5" while my friend who has the 3rd or 4th best car often has the goal of winning the race. Anyone know why this is?

For sure no, but my guess so far is a mix of team level vs average league level and/or reputation vs average and past best race finish position(s).

I think it's just reputation, I think I'm one of the highest in my championship but I have the 3rd/4th overall car and I think 2nd/3rd overall drivers, but my sponsor just wants me to win every single race, so I'm just going down in cash since I obviously can't. It should be like on Motorsport Manager, each sponsor gives us a predicted finish and money scaling to that requirement, so first you get more and for example 4th you get less.

I'm somewhat leaning towards reputation as well. The last race(s) do play quite a role. More than once it happened that after a lucky very good race finish the requirements jumped up quite a bit the following race.

You will see it on the home page after qualifying is over, shortly before the race begins.
