Stupid question about after race expiring staff contracts

You go into the race they have 1 left. After the race they run off to the job market and the stand-in takes their place.

How come the stand-in gets no points after the race, yet may all they are the ones that supplied the research gains after the race?

Could turn this into a suggestion!

How about the staff that are leaving stay in the team after the race for an hour before packing their bags?

We would get our full research points and make up our minds to renew or let them leave..
I would be letting them leave anyways, tight purse strings can't have them asking for more money. lol
