Just won my first championship which was great but I was expecting prize money. I recieved my achievements and the stats for winning both driver and constructor titles but that was it. No cash? Any reason for this?

There's no end of season prize money in this game. I'm one of those who find it odd, but that's how it is atm.

Thanks boomer. You should at least get something.

The devs were afraid prize money would boost the already best team further, eventually opening a gap the other teams have difficulties to overcome and thus decided to award prize reputation 'only'. Since money in the new version isn't really that hard to come by and thus not worth much or important, because otherwise buying money with token would make the game pay to win, price money should be no problem anymore but so far the devs didn't decide to change it.
Personally I don't care much either way. But perhaps some trophy case in the teams profile would transport more feel of an achievement than some increasing numbers, though.

It's one of the things I find most new players surprised to learn about, that there's no end-of-season payout. They also would probably care more about having the resources to build their team instead of trophy cases at their stage.
Money was much easier to get in old iGP, and IMO there was not really a "funding gap" to worry about since it was either you're rich, or you're very rich. It was so easy to get millions per race, especially with each driver having their own objectives and bonuses should they meet those objectives. In just two or three seasons a newbie manager could get their balance close to 100m while barely trying (and without spam buying low leveled drivers).
While you can argue it's easy for some to manage their funds in new iGP since there's tokens for investment, it's harder to gain money after each race now, especially if you have expensive staff or don't meet your sponsor bonus. The top teams, especially those who finish among the top consistently, will often meet their sponsor bonuses, while the others definitely won't have the same luxury, so you would still have that "money gap", as it should be as there should be perks for performing better.
Still, seeing how many newer managers seem to have trouble staying in the black, or perhaps spend under the assumption that there's an end-of-season payout, it could be one thing worth reconsidering.
Currently, the sponsor bonus system arguably discourages less dominant or less experienced managers from trying to get a good result, since it's hugely fickle and based extensively on only your one past race performance. So a minnows team that's regularly outside the points, would regularly get low objectives and probably hit them all. But once they get a surprise podium in say, a race with changeable conditions, they get an unrealistically high objective the next race and lose a few million the very next race by not meeting that objective. It's not really encouraging for them. Even more so that there's no end-of-season payout according to championship position, for example. So managers who have little chance of consistently high finishing positions might as well just do the bare minimum to scrape by, consistently finishing in low positions, not getting their objective too high, and raking in money by basically not putting up much of a fight.

I never experienced it like that, I only get a little bit over 1 million bonus even now anyway so missing that objective was never much of a drama. But you might have a point there. I never fell for that high bonus trap but maybe more manager than I think actually do and end up with 1 token, small base amount and loads of bonus they perhaps even most of the time don't manage to get and never really realize where things go wrong.
As said I don't mind prize money. It's not that it really enables someone to perform way better if he wins it, just that this someone can be more careless with finances in trying being as competetive as possible for a little bit of time.
The trophy case wasn't meant as a replacement, just a suggestion as I got the impression on some of those (earlier) posts that those fresh championship winners are missing something and it's not only the prize money.

You're right in that we could be missing some shiny trophies too though. :p
