Looking at the live data during a race im not sure if its resonable to be able to see the condition of the component parts of the other players cars.  You may be able to simulate and see tyre condition but I cant believe in the real world teams can determine the status of other components (unless they substain damage due to contact etc during the race).  It would be nice to see the current tyre choice fitted permantly displayed in the information screen though since that can be observed.

That's not a bad idea. Perhaps a little letter on the screen which shows you the tyre choice, if you didn't happen to catch it in their pit stops. Like an 'S', 'H', 'W' or 'I'.

I used my first 2D trial yesterday and thought exactly the same things. Couldn't believe that there was no way to check what rubber the other drivers were on, nor when each person made their stops. I'd say that's an urgently-needed update.

The point about displaying the component status of other cars is well made, too.

+1 on the 2D tyre info

well, I disagree with you guys.

In real F1 they can have some idea about the conditions because of the tyre type.

If you look another driver, and you see his tyre is getting warm in a few laps, you can check he is with a soft tyre, and that works with the hard too.

I think that this doesn't need a change.

Seeing other drivers' tyre data can stay (and be improved with a history) but seeing things like suspension and wing? You sure?

but that all depends on how hard they are pushing the tyres, so you cant tell for sure

its kind of silly in the 2d you can see how worn all the parts of anyones car is but you cant see what tyre their on

In real life you can see the tyres people are on - and in theory yes we should be able to see them in the 2D.

But if everything is provided for us to see - where is the mystery (fun) for us to trying to remember what tyre everyone is on and try to change strategy to out pace them?

Providing every little bit of information would make the game become dull and boring very quickly.

The tyre type could be provided in the race information panel but I'd be looking at taking away all the information of opponents cars regarding bodywork levels but more importantly what temperature their tyres are running at. This would force people to use the sector/lap times more to work out how hard to push or sit back and thus make more the races more involved/interesting for everyone.

+1 Once your in the lead and you know the person behind has "hotter/redder" tyres than you, you can back off knowing that even if he starts to catch you you have better condition tyres so you can push to get a bigger lead, showing the condition of the components doesnt really give you any advantage

Showing what tyres people are on, i suppose you would know in real life, but if you pay attention it tells you at the top of the screen at pit stops etc anyway, also the amount of time in the pits would give you a rough idea how much fuel was put in, but would knowing the fuel/tyre type of every1 in the race make for a better race or ruin it completely?

We'll be adding some way of reporting the tyre compound for each car, most likely by adding a letter next to the tyres on the details panel.  We're also considering adding a new facility that gives your team the ability to estimate and lookup the conditions of the parts of other cars in the race.  This way you will not be able to see detailed conditions of other cars by default, but will be able to invest to gather this information.
