What happens when a driver comes to end of contract?

I am planning to part ways with a driver when his contracts ends.

I know that if I put him up for sale prior to his contract ending, I get some income. If I just let the contract end, will he just walk away and I lose possibility of some income from an early sale?

He walks out and some dumb, dumb walks in that you can sell to make a little money. If you already have another driver to take over, just use the sell now if you don't wanna use the auction.
