Am I the only who doesn't understand why people seem to call the drivers pilots.

Pilots are for planes.

If pilots are just for planes then how does a pilot whale fit in... Does that also make a carpenter a pilot cos they use planes?

A driver is a golf club, usually thick and heavy. I don't think it's fair to call Lewis Hamilton heavy.

That's just how it goes in different languages. Kind of annoying, but not a problem at all.
