I'm in a rookie league and fortunately running away with it but there's no competition or should I say no one else seems to be actively playing. As the season is on its last race, what could or should I do?.. Without getting penalised for leaving because I enjoy the game but no competition equals boredom.

Now you have to find a populated League. I'd recommend you to look at [url="https://igpmanager.com/app/d=spectate"]spectate tab[/url] to see live races happening and then try to join one of them.
