Hi,
I've just been promoted from Rookie to find my design points reduced across the board (not to mention, I wasn't given any from my last race).

Is this what usually happens to newly promoted teams? It means I'll effectively never be competitive in the Pro league as it makes my level so far behind the lead car.

There is more at play here. If you were just promoted your season just ended. You NEVER get design points from the last race.

Also, did you hire a new chief designer last season? At what point were they hired? If you didn't hire a new designer, did your level go up during the season?

You will be competitive, just not from the start. Careful use of your research will allow you to catch up in a few races.

Thanks for replying.

I hired a new Chief Designer for the final five races. She had better stats and the car design points didn't drop when the original one left.

My personal level went up towards the start of the season.

I'm not sure if to spread the research or focus on areas now. Presumably, the existing teams have good facilities in place, will be producing more design points, and have a year's head start. I understand they'd always have had that head start, which makes taking points away from the weaker team seem even stranger.

Every team starts every season with a new car. The strength (star rating) of the active CD during each race determines how many points the new car for the next season will have. Promoted teams do however start with a handicap, their cars amount of starting design points are based on their former tier so they start with a Rookie car in Pro or a Pro car in Elite.

Ah...I guess that makes sense. It's stops leagues stagnating by cars remaining the same and becoming perfected over time.
