Welcome once again to the IGP FMR Division review. Today we are surrounded by the Grandeur of Monaco, a truly historical track. Today we saw some fantastic races.
We start of course with our Rookie Division, and today it was a tight race running quickly through the Grid we saw Philpy taking 1st and 3rd, Laguna taking 2nd and 8th, Carroll sat in 4th and 6th, BMW Red Bull taking 5th and 15th, Jaguars taking 7th and 9th, Schwinesteiger taking 10th and 17th, Chemql holding 11th and 13th, Pandaslo; 12th and 14th, Gravitas 16th and 18th, JM Motorsports locked out Row 10, Byrgil following them with Row 11, Stoned Rangers sat in P23 and 25, Lafayette P24 and 27, Those Guys 26 and 30, Mercedes Benz 28 and 30, and finally Keokuk taking the final positions 29 and 31.
If the Grid isnt enough to mix things up, the Race certainly did, how can we summarize this race. IT would be neigh on impossible to include everything that was going on. From battles, to Mechanical Issues, to retirements and more, this race had it all in spades. First lets talk about those Mechanical issues. 4 teams seemed to have Mechanical gremlins today Keokuk Hell found their DRS systems were malfunctioning, causing massive delays in the DRS zone and eventually completely going all together, but despite their issues they held on to take a respectable 29th and 32nd position. Not far in front and also experiencing issues were Mercedes Benz, they had gearbox problems that left them several times without drive, but they crossed the line 26th and 31st. Those Guys were next in the gremlins eye sights, those tricky little devils played tricks on their electrics, as they had false information and even lost all screens for a moment, causing huge problems on the pit wall, after a few mistaken pit stops they were able to keep hold of 28th and 30th position, though narrowly. The last team to have Mechanical problems were Lafayette Mercedes, unable to Cool down the engine they had to practically coast most of the race finally ending 25th and 27th.
In the middle of the field, Pandaslo, Chemql, JM Motorsports, Byrgil and Stoned Rangers were having a race all by themselves. Though some of them had the pace during qualifying, over an extended period it was clear each teams cars were just that much faster than the others. Of these 5 Stoned Rangers were the largest losers as they could only hold on to the tail end of the group, finishing 23rd and 24th, just managing to stay ahead of them, Byrgil in 21st and 22nd. But it was JM Motorsport, Chemql and Pandaslo that had a race through the pits, each stint would see their order switching and changing, but it was the work of the Pandaslo pit crew that got them ahead of the group with Chemql behind and JM Motorsports bringing up the rear.
Starting 16th and 18th it was in no doubt that Gravitas wouldn't be fighting for points today, but fight they did and made a great battle of it right to the finish with the teams of Jaguars and BMW Red Bull, of course it would be BMW taking the points home with them but by gosh did they have to work for it, both Jaguars and Gravitas Drivers were not giving them an inch and in many corners they didnt even going three wide down the home straight but it was Gravitas sandwiched between the two Jaguars' Drivers as those 4 took up positions 11 to 14.
Now i know what you are all thinking, what happened to the other teams, if Jaguars and BMW were taken down through the order what about Schwinestier? Carrolls? Philpy? Laguna? Well i will tell you.
It was a race beyond races. After a promising start Philpy was left hanging, barely able to stop Schwinesteiger from chewing on them, and being absolutely swallowed by Laguna. No one could match their pace, Laguna had the race in the bag everything seemed to be going their way as they charged through the field to take the top 2 with a Schwinesteiger taking the final podium. Philpy managed to hold on for 4th and 5th with the two Carroll drivers squeezing the last Schwinesteiger for 6, 7 and 8.
We have recently found out that after several races of not gaining any points Mercedes have pulled their contract with Lafayette and liquidized their Mercedes Benz team, and without an Engine supplier Lafayette has had to pull out of the Division completely, a great loss for what could have been a promising team.
But the results tell one story where as the Tables tell another, after a blistering race it has become an extremely tight battle in the points;
Pro Division was filled with Mistakes. It made for an interesting Race though. Lets first look at the starting grid: McCarthy Jr easily took the Pole position for Crews Crew with Blood Lines' Dylan Mansell beside him. On the second row, Taylor for SL Racing and Pedersen for Benfica F1. Carneiro took over the 3rd Row with Green Mile's Williams sitting behind beside Cruz Crews Miss L Stark. Johnson for Blood Lines and Saintilus for Green Mile rounded out the top ten. Mattdj's Jones took the lead on row 6 with SL Racing's Wilson beside him. Jones' team mate sat behind him on row 7 with Hunt of Hopsocube beside and Hunt's team mate, Roberts, heading row 8, Benfica F1's Knudsen beside. Puputan took over row 9 and Ford Performance started at the back of the grid.
Ford Performance were forced to retire after a double engine failure in both cars, Team Director Lucas Abelha had this to say about the matter;
"It is unfortunate to have both of our Engines fail during the race, but we are looking into the Issue and will be fit for racing next week"
"But with the performance your team has had over the season so far could this possibly be the first sign of more reliability issues for the next race"
"Our teams are working hard to repair any issues that have or could occur for the next race, we will be fit to race again"
"But Mr. Abelha wouldn't .."
"No more questions"
Clearly after their success in the Rookie Division the sheer pace of the Pros is getting to the cars. On a better note though the remaining teams had a good battle for the race all be it in several small groups but a great days racing as different Strategies came into play making us wonder who would get the points.
Shock report though, after a Mix up on the Pit wall McCarthy was forced to settle for second today as the Pit Crew of Cruz Crew sent McCarthy out for his final stint on Softs rather than the Super Softs he radioed for, so it was Lizzie Stark that took the podium spot, but it was still a 1-2 win for the team with Dylan Mansell forever shadowing them. SL Racing was able to optimize their strategy to take 4th and 5th a great result for them and the team. But a huge upset for Carneiro, they were looking to finish 7th and 8th but Johnson from Blood Lines got between them in the closing laps of the race, a great finish and some much needed points for the team. Williams and Pedersen founded out the last points positions.
Elite Division saw a clean race from all the teams. Skyeladder of course finished 1st and 2nd once again, but SLB Racing made their presence known and would not let Skyeladder get away, these two battling team were able to take the fight to the line but it meant leaving the Blue Angels team far behind.
But on another note Blue Angels have begun a Sister team after an agreement came to light with several new sponsors, thus Blue Angels 2 was born. Using the engines from last year Blue Angels 2 are set to debut in Turkey along side another new team PG Racing, headed by Andrew Ritter, who's application had been approved just moments ago, after the announcement was made Mr. Ritter was all smiles as he spoke with the press;
"PG Racing can happily announce that we will be running in the Turkish GP next week. It has been a huge battle to get the approval and Myself and the team are delighted that is has finally come to pass. We will of course be trying our hardest out on the track and look forward to the opportunity presented to us for racing under the IGP Formula Motorsport Racing banner."
We wish both teams the best of luck for the coming races. We all know how popular the IGP FMR is becoming and it's population and reputation has only grown ever more larger over the last few months.
That's it for another exciting report, join us again as we review the Turkish GP.
